S&P 500, Nasdaq Weighed Down By Spike In Bond Yields

The S&P 500 slipped on Friday after hitting an all-time high in the prior session, as a spike in U.S. bond yields revived inflation worries and dented appetite for high-growth stocks.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq tumbled 1.1% after rebounding more than 6% over the past three sessions, while the blue-chip Dow, on the other hand, was closing in on its fifth consecutive record high.

Wall Street’s main indexes are set for their best week in six after one of the largest U.S. fiscal stimulus bills was signed into law and data reinforced views that the economy was on the path to a recovery.

A consistent rise in U.S. bond yields has raised fears of a sudden tapering of monetary stimulus, pressuring the main U.S. stock indexes in recent weeks.

The yield on the benchmark 10-year notes <US10YT=RR> rose back above 1.60% on Friday to approach the one-year highs touched last week.

“The risks of inflation picking up have increased significantly due to a jump in money supply through stimulus and the anticipated demand that we might see as the economy slowly unlocks,” said Jonathan Bell, chief investment officer at Stanhope Capital in London.

Speedy vaccine distribution and more fiscal aid have also added to concerns of higher inflation despite assurances from the Federal Reserve to maintain an accommodative policy. All eyes will now be on the central bank’s policy meeting next week for further cues on inflation.

U.S. consumer sentiment improved more than expected in March, hitting its highest level in a year, a survey by the University of Michigan showed on Friday.

At 10:10 a.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 155.74 points, or 0.48%, to 32,641.33, the S&P 500 lost 8.83 points, or 0.22 %, to 3,930.51 and the Nasdaq Composite lost 146.37 points, or 1.09 %, to 13,252.31.

The Nasdaq has been particularly hit by the sell-off in recent weeks and confirmed a correction at the start of the week as investors swapped richly valued technology stocks with those of energy, mining and industrials companies that are poised to benefit more from an economic rebound.

The yield-sensitive group of Facebook Inc Apple Inc, Amazon.com Inc, Netflix Inc, Google-parent Alphabet Inc, Tesla Inc and Microsoft Corp were down between 1% and 3%.

Tech, communication services and consumer discretionary indexes, which house these mega-cap stocks, slipped the most among major S&P sectors.

Banks jumped about 2%, while financials, industrials clinched new record levels.

Ulta Beauty Inc slumped about 11% after the cosmetics retailer forecast annual revenue below estimates, as demand for make-up products were under pressure due to extended work-from-home policies.

The company also named President Dave Kimbell as its new chief executive officer.

U.S.-listed shares of China-based JD.com Inc dropped nearly 6% after three sources said it is in talks to buy part or all of a stake in brokerage Sinolink Securities worth at least $1.5 billion.

Declining issues matched advancers on the NYSE by a 1.5-to-1 ratio on the Nasdaq.

The S&P 500 posted 54 new 52-week highs and no new low, while the Nasdaq recorded 347 new highs and 10 new lows.

The January 6th ‘Insurrection’ that Wasn’t

(The American Thinker) The “attack” on the Capitol started well before then President Trump finished his speech at the rally at The Ellipse.  This attack was no spontaneous event as alleged by Democrats, the Media, and the Radical Left.  It is evident to any police officer who has been on a police line that this attack was preplanned when coupled with the intelligence compiled by the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) and other agencies. From the videos, this is self-evident, e.g., coordination, tactics in engaging the police lines, hand signals, gas masks, bear spray, goggles, helmets, knee pads, improvised weapons, and milk to neutralize crowd control gasses.

It is indisputable the Capitol Police were understaffed and immediately overrun within seconds of the attack.  The attack began some twenty-minutes before the former President finished his speech.  Others observed a noticeable lack of law enforcement presence that is usually SOP for these “peaceful rallies and protests” around the Capitol. MAGA supporters were calling out Antifa members as the Capitol was breached. In the video below, a MAGA supporter desperately yells at police in riot gear, “Call for backup… this is our damn Capitol building… you are letting it get destroyed!”  It is clear they were not engaging.

Most of the Trump rally-goers had no clue that the Capitol was under attack and peaceably dispersed. It’s unfair to categorize all Trump supporters as radical White nationalists who were there to attack the Capitol as has been the media’s narrative.

As reported by the LA Times, FBI Director Christopher Wray’s recent testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee was disingenuous.  As covered by OAN,  Director Wray is either incompetent, deceitful or lying that there was no proof that members of radical left organizations were not involved, “FBI ‘can’t find proof’ of Antifa involvement.” OAN also reports other information against the media narrative that only radical Trump supporters carried out this attack.

There are many videos of radical leftist, anti-Trump, John Sullivan before and during the attack inciting people to burn the Capital down and pull Trump from the building.  Sullivan is seen inside the Capitol, further instigating violence. Investigative reporter Andy Ngo was one of the first to identify Sullivan at the Capitol.  Sullivan in a Twitter post in the OAN video clip is wearing a Trump supporter hat with a caption, “Counter Intel.” This photo appears to be taken in a hotel hallway.  The media has mostly ignored that anti-Trump infiltrators were wearing MAGA gear.

Screen Shot of Trump hat from twitter photo still in OAN coverage:

The FBI’s JTTF, to its credit, gave local law enforcement, including the Capitol Police, advanced warning of the likelihood of extremists would infiltrate the rally as cover to attack the Capitol.  For one reason or another, this information was not acted upon by the DC Police.  Why?

Still, the media narrative prevails, yet there is now evidence that extremists of all persuasions were involved in the attack.  See this recent interview, “The Big Money Behind the Narrative – Sharyl Attkisson on Media Bias & Spin,” with investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson on her new book, Slanted: How the News Media Taught Us to Love Censorship and Hate Journalism.  The Democrats and the media continue to spin stories that more armed insurrections are imminent for their Leftist agenda of scaring the public.  Glenn Greenwald unmasked them, “As the Insurrection Narrative Crumbles, . . .”

The Capitol Police’s chain of command is clear – the Capitol Police Chief, to the Sgt of Arms in the House, and then to the Speaker of the House.   If I were an FBI investigator charged with investigating this “insurrection,” knowing the intelligence Capitol Police had, I would start with this chain of command to ask probative questions.  Five deaths were directly attributed to this attack that the media has bannered incessantly.  In my opinion, the felony murder rule would apply to those who facilitated or aided in this attack, including those in the chain of command that denied the multiple requests of the Capitol Police Chief for more resources.

There are at least two possible scenarios why this attack was successful in penetrating the Capitol building. One is the total failure and or incompetence by the decision-makers and politicians involved influenced by the optics the presence of law enforcement.  Common sense would dictate a rally of this magnitude would be likely infiltrated by radical groups for their political agendas.  Democrat operatives have done so before.  If I were a Capitol officer, I would probably resign or retire as my command structure placed me at immediate risk unnecessarily. As reported by ProPublica, “I Don’t Trust the People Above Me,” an excellent account, except for the calim of an officer dying from a thrown fire extinguisher.  This is not true.

The second is that the top decision-makers, including politicians, knew that an attack was likely. They intentionally understaffed and watered down the rules of engagement to facilitate this attack for their political agenda.  The Capitol Police Chief’s request for the National Guard before the event was denied.  Trump reportedly wanted 10,000 National Guard Troops in DC on the 6th, but Nancy Pelosi said no. The Chief also said members of the Congress were briefed on the event.  These decision-makers then blamed the attack on Trump’s rhetorical speech as inciting the attack, which they called an “insurrection.”  The Democratic majority in the House then launched an impeachment based on this narrative without any due process.  It was evident from the media coverage the narrative that Trump’s followers were White nationalists and incited by his speech to storm the Capitol.

There are some 75 million Americans who are growing very weary of the Radical Left’s agenda, its socialistic, nanny state, dictatorial, big government.  They are questioning the legitimacy of the COVID emergency mandates, the real threat and undue influence that China poses to the US, illegal immigration, election integrity, the cancel culture movement, the suppression of free thought and speech, and the DC politicians’ collaboration with Big Tech, the Media and the Radical Left.  Acting in lockstep they are spreading disinformation, revisionist history, suppress opposing points of view, and gaslighting those who dare have differing opinions.  Even Dr. Seuss and Mr. Potato Head are no longer safe for people to read.

Most of all, the people are furious about the breakdown of the rule of law, equal justice for all, and hypocrisy of “the rules for thee but not for me” where elitist perpetrators go unpunished.  For further on these issues see my previous articles.

De Blasio: Cuomo Is ‘Literally in the Way of Us Saving Lives Right Now’ (video)

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) on said Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) was “in the way of us saving lives” because he is busy dealing with multiple sexual misconduct allegations and therefore distracted from the coronavirus pandemic.

When asked if Cuomo will resign, De Blasio said, “I think he’ll try to hold out Margaret. I think he is used to getting things his way, and it’s been almost an imperial governorship. But I gotta tell you, the folks in this state and political leadership don’t believe in him anymore. He doesn’t have any credibility.”

He continued, “So I think an impeachment proceeding will begin. And I think he will be impeached, and perhaps right before that, he’ll decide to resign. That’s probably the most likely outcome right now, but I got to tell you something. He should resign right now because he’s holding up our effort to fight COVID. He’s literally in the way of us saving lives right now.”

He added, “He just needs to resign so we can actually turn the page. And- and look, it’s an optimistic time as you started out this morning. It’s an optimistic time. We got to put the past behind us. Andrew Cuomo can’t lead us into the future. We’ve got the people of the state ready to reopen, but we need to get him out of the way to do it.”

Pro-life activist who survived abortion that killed her twin shares her God redeemed story

A pro-life activist who survived an abortion that killed her twin sister shared how God has redeemed the broken parts of her story — and used for good what Satan intended for evil.

On a recent episode of the “Politely Rude With Abby Johnson” podcast, Claire Culwell shared her story with her friend, Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood clinic director-turned-pro-life-activist.

Just 13 years old and in eighth grade when she got pregnant, Culwell’s mother had a D&C surgical late-term abortion during her fifth month of pregnancy. Culwell’s mother was told her abortion was successful, but one of the twins had survived. She then sought out a second late-term abortion in Kansas, but she was unable to have the procedure because of the risk of infection.

Culwell, who was adopted into a Christian family, shared that she didn’t know she had survived an abortion until she met her biological mother and heard the entire story — a day she described as eye-opening.

“That day, as I looked into my birth mother’s eyes as I saw her tears as I saw what abortion had done to her, I chose to forgive my first mother,” she said. “And I asked her if I could share this story with people because I knew that God’s fingerprints were all over it. I knew that there was something powerful about an abortion survivor.”

Culwell said that growing up, she never met anyone affected by abortion — and her head was “spinning” when she fully understood its far-reaching effects.

“Not only did I need to forgive my birth mother so that she could heal, but I learned that I wasn’t alone, that the person who had been affected by abortion was someone just like me and someone just like you,” she said.

After asking her birth mother — who saw the abortion as her most shameful secret — for permission, Culwell began sharing her story with others. She recalled the moment she told her story to a crowd that included her birth mother.

“I brought her up on stage and we cried,” she said. “I introduced her to people for the first time and she grabbed my hand and she raised our handset together. I love that moment because it felt like victory. Victory over what happened to us, victory over what abortion tried to do to us, tried to take from us.”

“We have victory because of what Christ offers and because of His forgiveness for us and because we know that one day, He’ll come back and He’ll make all things right, and so we have that hope,” she continued. “God has really turned something that was made for evil — for my evil, to take my life, to dismember my twin, to hurt my birth mother — He’s taken that evil and He’s turned it into something good.”

“I choose to forgive, and I choose to focus on the good and the hope in the story because I think that our journey of healing, even though it’s been difficult, has paved the way for people to recognize the humanity of the unborn child and recognize the need for people, and especially Christians pastors, to stand up and say, ‘We’ve had enough. We have got to do better than what we’re doing.’”

Johnson noted that according to studies, an estimated 70% of women who have had an abortion stated that they felt coerced to do so.

“That’s exactly how [it was for] your birth mother,” she told Culwell. “She felt she had no other choice because she was being forced to have an abortion.”

Johnson encouraged Christians to refrain from passing judgment on those who’ve had abortions and instead “show grace” and support ministries that provide alternative options.

Both Johnson and Culwell urged pastors to address the subject of abortion from the pulpit: “The apathy of the Church, the silence of the Church, is sending women to run toward the abortion clinic as their safe place because the abortion clinic is saying, ‘We’re here for you, we support you,’” Culwell said.

“For 21 years, I sat in the pews of the same church … and not once did I ever hear my pastor, my youth leader, anybody, talk about abortion. Talk about the reality of what it was doing, how it’s tearing families apart, taking life. Telling women that they have to kill their child in order to live their life, be successful, be happy,” she said.

“Never once heard about how God created life in His image and so we should protect it. And so here I was, 21 years old, finding out that I had been affected by abortion, and I didn’t know where to turn. I didn’t know if that would be accepted.”

Culwell shares her story of survival and forgiveness in her new book, Survivor: An Abortion Survivor’s Surprising Story of Choosing Forgiveness and Finding Redemption.

“The book is really about my survival story from the moment I was conceived and survived my birth mother’s abortion 32 years ago now until,” she shared.

“I hope that it starts conversations for people, that people will know the truth and care about the truth and do something with the information that they’re given in this story and through the redemptive message that it shares,” Culwell added.

Canadian Health Chief Says COVID Restrictions Must Continue Even AFTER Taking Vaccine

“If you got vaccinated, it’s never 100 percent,” she admits

Canada’s top public health officer warned citizens that they must continue following the country’s COVID restrictions even after getting vaccinated, noting that the vaccine is “never 100%” effective.

Therea Tam, Prime Minister Trudeau’s public health chief, said Sunday that because so little is known about the vaccine’s efficacy is unknown, people must still obey the COVID measures like social distancing and masking.

“For now, keep up with those precautions, because there’s two reason,” Tam said. “One is that if you got vaccinated, it’s never 100 percent. So keeping up with some of these personal protective layers is still important.”

Tam then admitted health experts “don’t know” if vaccinated people can still transmit coronavirus.

“Can you transmit to someone else if you’re vaccinated? That we don’t know yet. But there’s more and more data that shows there’s quite likely that those who are vaccinated are less likely to transmit. But that data is forthcoming so just hang on tight for a bit,” she said.

45 days to flatten the curve, right?

If people have to keep obeying the oppressive and authoritarian COVID restrictions, what’s the point of even getting vaccinated?

The answer has nothing to do with public health or the vaccines: it’s about control and setting the tone for the Great Reset agenda, which aims to severely restrict human rights in the name of fighting climate change.

Ireland becomes latest nation to halt rollout of AstraZeneca vaccine following new reports of blood clotting

Ireland has put the brakes on plans to administer the AstraZeneca Covid vaccine, following in the footsteps of other countries that have suspended its use over concerns that the drug may be linked to blood clotting.

The Irish Department of Health confirmed to the media that the rollout of the jab had been “temporarily deferred.”

The decision came at the urging of Ireland’s National Immunisation Advisory Committee, following four new cases of “serious” blood clotting that occurred in adults who received the vaccine in Norway.

Ireland’s deputy chief medical officer, Dr. Ronan Glynn, said shelving the drug was a “precautionary” measure and stressed that there was no established link between the medical issues and the vaccine.

The European Medicines Agency is currently investigating the issue. AstraZeneca has said that it is conducting its own review and will share any new information “without delay.”

The new advisory comes just two days after Irish medical officials approved the AstraZeneca vaccine for people older than 70. Officials had previously determined that only people under the age of 65 should be given the drug, amid concerns about limited data on its efficacy for older age groups.

Denmark announced on Thursday that it would suspend use of the AstraZeneca vaccine for two weeks after some recipients of the jab developed blood clots. Norway followed suit, describing the move as a “cautionary decision.”

Austria, Iceland, Italy, and a number of other countries have also postponed or restricted their rollout of the jab after reviewing the worrying reports about potential adverse reactions.

The World Health Organization has insisted that the vaccine can still be used, as there is no established link between the drug and blood clotting.

Meghan Markle Reportedly Eyeing Bid For The White House, Talking To Top U.S. Democrats

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is reportedly “networking” with top leaders of the Democratic Party and mulling a run for U.S. president in 2024.

The report, which came in the Daily Mail, cites an unnamed British Labour Party official.

“The Blairite, internationalist and Democratic party networks are buzzing with talk about Meghan’s political ambitions and potential backers,” the anonymous source told the U.K. paper.

“During the US election last year they levelled a thinly veiled attack on Donald Trump by urging voters to ‘reject hate speech,’ which a spokesperson for the couple described as ‘a call for decency.’ Trump himself declared that he was ‘not a fan’ of Meghan, 39,” said the paper.

Markle is allegedly prepping in case Biden, who will be 82 in 2024, decides not to run for a second term, the source said. And her biographer and longtime friend, Omid Scobie, has also claimed that the one-time actress “has her eyes set on the U.S. presidency.”

“Meghan is the embodiment of the American dream. One day we may see Meghan become president,” Scobie, the author of “Finding Freedom: Harry, Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family,” previously said in a documentary.

Another friend told Vanity Fair last year that the duchess “would seriously consider running for president,” the New York Post reported.

“‘One of the reasons she was so keen not to give up her American citizenship was so she had the option to go into politics,’ the unidentified friend told the mag of Markle’s brief time in the UK,” wrote the paper.

But another biographer said Markle won’t run. “I would state categorically that she has no chance of ever running for president. She would be eaten alive,” Andrew Morton, author of “Meghan: A Hollywood Princess,” told Vanity Fair last year, the Post reported.

Markle sat down for an interview with Oprah Winfrey last Sunday and claimed that she was driven out of the royal family because of racism.

The duchess said that when she was pregnant with their son Archie, unnamed royals expressed “concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he was born.” Meghan is biracial, with a white father and black mother.

Some of her claims, though, have not panned out. Markle said that when she married Prince Harry, she had to hand over her passport and car keys to palace authorities.

“When I joined that family, that was the last time, until we came here, that I saw my passport, my driver’s license, my keys,” she said. Markle said she didn’t get them back until she stepped down from royal duty and moved to California.

But new reports say Markle was a world traveler throughout the time she dated Harry and after she joined the royal family, taking at least 13 trips.

“[T]he Duchess visited 13 countries as a tourist from when she started dating Prince Harry to September 2019 – when the couple jetted off to Italy for fashion designer Misha Nonoo’s lavish wedding,” the Daily Mail reported. “Meghan and Harry announced they were stepping back as senior members of the Royal Family the following January.”

Exposing the left’s radical version of ‘normal’

One of the most effective things that Marxists do is to commandeer language and steer it toward revolutionary goals

ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Given the level of insanity erupting at all levels in America, it wasn’t really a shock when the huge, multinational corporation Unilever announced in early March that it was pulling the word “normal” from at least half of its products.

No more soap for “normal skin care,” or shampoo for “normal hair.” It’s offensive.

A global study by Unilever found that the word “normal” made 56% of the respondents feel excluded and that 70% felt that using the word on packaging has a negative impact on people. So, “normal” has to go.

Unilever has 400 brands in 190 countries and claims 2.5 billion customers. The company’s beauty and personal product lines include Dove, Lifebuoy, Axe, Aviance and Brut. It owns food giants Continental, Hellmann’s, Breyers, Lipton, Knorr and Pure Leaf Tea. Also, Ben & Jerry’s. Could it be that the Vermont-based ice cream company’s radical politics took over its host when Unilever acquired it? Just a theory.

One of the most effective things that Marxists do is to commandeer language and steer it toward revolutionary goals. The border crisis created by Joe Biden is just a “border challenge,” for example, with “irregular” crossings. The coming tax increases will be “revenue enhancements.”

Meanwhile, everything gets politicized, even skin care products. Unilever’s surrender to the cancel culture’s hyper-sensitivity mirrors what’s happening in the media, entertainment and social media.

In January, Disney removed “Dumbo,” “Peter Pan,” “Aristocats,” “The Lady and the Tramp,” “The Jungle Book” and “Swiss Family Robinson” from children’s accounts on Disney-Plus.

In late February, Dr. Seuss, whose real name was Theodor Seuss Geisel (1904-1991), became persona non grata after the Loudoun County School Board in Virginia announced that it was removing six of the author’s books over racial “undertones.” The board said it would not feature him on Read Across America Day, which commemorates the author’s March 2 birthday.

Within days, the publisher pulled “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street,” “If I Ran the Zoo,” “McElligot’s Pool,” “On Beyond Zebra!,” “Scrambled Eggs Super!” and “The Cat’s Quizzer.”

In his proclamation about Read Across America Day, Joe Biden obediently omitted any mention of Dr. Seuss, unlike his predecessors Donald Trump and Barack Obama.

This is not a trivial side show. Exposing the left’s insane attacks on normalcy helps to galvanize citizens against their radical agenda, such as an unsecured border, the $1.9 trillion Democratic “COVID-19 relief” slush fund, an end to fair elections (“For the People Act”) and the criminalization of Christianity (“Equality Act”). They’re also teeing up a newly hatched gun-grabbing bill and the wacko Green New Deal.

It’s the same power-mad people whose culture vultures are purging Dr. Seuss, Dumbo and conservative media content.

In February (Black History Month), Amazon removed the popular streaming documentary “Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words.” The film began airing on the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) in May and streaming for free as part of Prime memberships in October. It was among the top-streaming documentaries, and is still selling well.

“For a while our film was, briefly, No. 1 in documentaries,” the film’s director, Michael Pack, told Wall Street Journal columnist Jason L. Riley.  “And I think it’s still No. 25 or 30 or so.”

The movie rating website Rotten Tomatoes gives the film a 99% audience approval rating. Not surprisingly, Amazon still streams two less-popular documentaries about Anita Hill, Justice Thomas’ accuser at his 1991 confirmation hearing.

On Feb. 10, Lucasfilm announced it had fired popular actress Gina Carano from its hit Disney/Star Wars series “The Mandalorian” over her conservative social media posts.

In early March, the Gannett newspaper chain announced that it would no longer distribute the comic strip “Mallard Fillmore,” inked for 27 years by conservative humorist Bruce Tinsley and featured prominently in The Washington Times. His crime? He criticized Joe Biden’s transgender agenda, which includes biological males participating in women’s sports.

This brings us back to the war on “normal.” We’re living in a culture where bizarrely made-up men in dresses perform Drag Queen Story Hour for small children who must be protected from exposure to Dr. Seuss. It’s all about “tolerance,” and it’s a test of whether America is still the “land of the free and home of the brave.” If they get away with this, they can get away with anything.

As usual, prescient passages in George Orwell’s “1984” help explain what’s going on. The protagonist, Winston, works with a colleague, Syme, in the Records Department of the Ministry of Truth, where they rewrite history to fit Big Brother’s agenda. They employ the language of Newspeak.

“You haven’t a real appreciation of Newspeak, Winston,” Syme says. “You don’t grasp the beauty of the destruction of words. Do you know that Newspeak is the only language in the world whose vocabulary gets smaller every year?”

Syme goes on: “Don’t you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thought-crime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it.”

So, out with “normal” and anything smacking of normal. Out with “husband” or “wife.” In with genderless pronouns, “diversity,” “racism,” “woke” and nonsense terms like “Pro-Life Evangelicals for Biden.”

People with evil intent are working very hard with useful idiots to rewire our once-free America into an authoritarian nightmare. By their language, you will know them.

Don’t give them the time of day.

Marines Say They ‘Messed Up’ After Joining Military Attacks Against Tucker Carlson

(The Epoch Times) The U.S. Marines said they “messed up” after joining in attacks lobbed by military officials at Fox News’s Tucker Carlson.

The official Twitter account for the II Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group used a pejorative in responding to Carlson’s recent statements on how the military should be focused more on adversaries and less on culture issues.

The Marines shared a picture of a female soldier carrying a male one and tagged Carlson, writing that the photo showed “what it looks like in today’s armed forces.”

“Get right before you get left, boomer,” the account said, using a widely considered pejorative.

After intense pushback for using an official military account to attack a private citizen, the Marines group said: “We are human and we messed up. What was intended as a tweet in support of our female Marines and sisters serving in uniform was clearly not aligned with our standard practices or an appropriate representation of the Marine Corps. We will do better and serve the people.”

“We can do better and we will collectively take a knee, review our procedures and get back in the fight. Our focus is to train, fight and win and we have a hard time doing that without your support,” the Marines added in another tweet.

The Department of Defense’s inspector general didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

The situation was the latest development in an ongoing clash between Carlson and the military, with some of the force’s highest officials lambasting the Fox News host for his views.

Carlson on March 9 on his show played comments from President Joe Biden, who has made elevating women in the military a priority in recent weeks.

In remarks on International Women’s Day the day prior at the White House, Biden highlighted how he’d nominated two women for four-star command positions in the armed forces. The nominations will underscore to young women just beginning their careers in the military that “no door will be closed to them,” Biden said.

Military leaders realize “there’s much, much more work to be done to ensure that women’s leadership is recognized and we have more diverse leaders” and that “all women feel safe and respected in our military,” he continued, adding: “Some of it is relatively straightforward work where we’re making good progress designing body armor that fits women properly; tailoring combat uniforms for women; creating maternity flight suits; updating—updating requirements for their hairstyles.”

Carlson then told viewers: “So we’ve got new hairstyles and maternity flight suits. Pregnant women are going to fight our wars. It’s a mockery of the U.S. Military. While China’s military becomes more masculine as it’s assembled the world’s largest navy, our military needs to become, as Joe Biden says, more feminine, whatever feminine means anymore since men and women no longer exist. The bottom line is it’s out of control, and the Pentagon is going along with this.”

The segment drew criticism from John Kirby, the Department of Defense’s press secretary. He told reporters that “the diversity of our military is one of our greatest strengths.”

“We are better and more effective not only when we represent the American people—all the American people—but also, when we have the moral courage to include other perspectives and ideas into our decision-making; perspectives that, as the secretary himself noted Monday, are based on lived experience. It’s that experience, and the professionalism and commitment of our people, that has always been our decisive advantage,” he said, adding that one contributor to that advantage is the women who serve in the military but that the armed forces need to work on making the military more inclusive.

“We pledge to do better and we will. What we absolutely won’t do is take personnel advice from a talk show host or the Chinese military. Now maybe those folks feel like they have something to prove; that’s on them. We know we’re the greatest military in the world today, and even for all the things we need to improve, we know exactly why that’s so,” Kirby also said.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin “shares the revulsion of so many others to what Mr. Carlson said in his opening statement,” according to the press secretary.

In addition, the Space Force Command’s senior enlisted leader Marine Corps Master Gunnery Sgt. Scott Stalker, while wearing his uniform, said in a video that Carlson’s opinion is “based on zero days of service in the armed forces.” Army Sgt. Major Michael Grinston was among other officers criticizing Carlson.

Carlson on March 11 said the Pentagon had effectively “declare[d] war on a domestic news operation.”

He also amped up his critique of what he described as the military’s focus on identity politics, noting that Biden recently announced the Pentagon would pay for gender reassignment surgery for active duty personnel.

“How do sex changes in the military make this country safer? That’s not a trick question. It’s not another volley in the culture war. It’s the only question that matters—literally, the only question that matters. But no one bothered to ask it, probably because no one can remember why the U.S. military exists,” he said.

“Here’s a reminder: the US military exists to fight and win wars. That’s its only purpose. The U.S. military is not an NGO. It is not a vehicle for achieving ‘equity.’ It’s not a social experiment. It’s definitely not an employment agency. Nobody has a God given right to work in the military. No one does, and then includes all of us.”
