Michigan to Keep Trump on Ballot

Michigan Supreme Court upheld a ruling allowing Donald Trump to remain on the state’s ballot.

The court rejected an appeal to the ruling from a Michigan appellate court.

Justice Elizabeth Welch explained in the decision that the group appealing the previous decision “have identified no analogous provision in the Michigan Election Law that requires someone seeking the office of President of the United States to attest to their legal qualification to hold the office,” Fox News reported.

While Welch affirmed of Appeals’ ruling, she noted that plaintiffs should be able “to renew their legal efforts as to the Michigan general election later in 2024 should Trump become the Republican nominee for President of the United States or seek such office as an independent candidate.”

Following the decision, Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that the “Michigan Supreme Court has strongly and rightfully denied the Desperate Democrat attempt to take the leading Candidate in the 2024 Presidential Election, me, off the ballot in the Great State of Michigan.”

“Colorado is the only State to have fallen pray to the scheme,” Trump added.

A West Virginia judge recently dismissed a lawsuit looking to ban Trump from the state’s ballot.

West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey called the decision a “big win for the integrity of our elections.”

“This lawsuit was frivolous to begin with and without merit – it had no basis in either law or fact,” he said. Any eligible candidate has the right to be on the ballot unless legally disqualified, and we will defend the laws of West Virginia and the right of voters and candidates to the fullest.”
