Trump Promises to Bring Back Travel Ban to Combat Terrorism On Day One

Former President Trump vowed this week in Iowa to bring back his travel ban on day one if reelected into office.

QUICK FACTS:
  • Donald Trump promised this week during a speech in Iowa to reinstate the travel ban if reelected as president, in order to prevent potential terrorist attacks in the United States.
  • “Today I am announcing vital steps I will take to protect our people in my next term. First, upon my inauguration, as I have already said many times before, I will immediately reinstate and expand the wildly successful Trump Travel Ban on entry from terror-plagued countries, territories, and places. If you’re coming from somewhere full of people who want to kill Americans, we will not let you in,” the former president said.
  • The 45th President also promised that his administration would implement “strong ideological screening” for all immigrants coming into the country.
  • “No longer will we allow dangerous lunatics, haters, bigots, and maniacs to get residency in our country. If you empathize with Radical Islamic terrorists and extremists, you’re disqualified — if you want to abolish the state of Israel, you’re disqualified —if you support Hamas or the ideology behind Hamas, you’re disqualified —and if you’re a Communist, Marxist, or Fascist, you are disqualified,” he said.
FORMER PRESIDENT TRUMP ON ENDING THE TRAVEL BAN IF HE IS RE-ELECTED INTO OFFICE:

“In the wake of the attacks on Israel, Americans have been disgusted to see open support for terrorists among the legions of foreign nationals on college campuses. Under the Trump administration, we will revoke the student visas of radical anti-American and anti-Semitic foreigners at our colleges and universities — and we will send them straight back home,” Trump said.

BACKGROUND:
  • In June 2023, Trump outlined his plan to reclaim America’s southern border and battle the influence of dangerous cartels in a recent press release issued by his campaign.
  • He accused the current administration, under President Joe Biden, of surrendering control of the border to these criminal entities, which he believes has put American communities at risk.
  • “President Trump will sign an executive order ending automatic citizenship for the children of illegal aliens,” the press release stated, indicating a major shift in the policy direction that was followed during the Biden era.
  • President Trump has also expressed his intentions to bring back his own border policies.
  • These include “safe third agreements, Remain in Mexico, asylum bans, building more border wall, and prosecuting illegal Aliens,” on his very first day in office, if elected.
  • The press release criticized the Biden administration’s approach to border management, stating, “The U.S. Border Patrol has reported three times as many illegal border crossings under Joe Biden than took place under President Trump.”
