Former President Donald Trump has thrown his weight behind Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH) for the position of Speaker of the House.
In a glowing endorsement posted on Truth Social late Thursday night, Trump praised Jordan’s extensive career and credentials, highlighting his achievements both in the realm of sports and his education.
Trump recounted Jordan’s impressive wrestling career, stating, “While attending Graham High School, he won State Championships all four years, a rarity, and compiled an amazing 156-1 record. At the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Jim became a two-time NCAA Division I Wrestling Champion.”
He also noted Jordan’s educational background, “Jim has a masters degree in Education from Ohio State University & a Law Degree from Capital University.”
The former President made no secret of his approval of Jordan’s political stance, asserting that he is “STRONG on Crime, Borders, our Military/Vets, & 2nd Amendment.”
He added that Jordan, being “Respected by all,” is serving as the “Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee,” and has previously been honored by Trump with the “Country’s highest civilian award, The Presidential Medal of Freedom.”
In a clear endorsement for the Speaker position, Trump declared, “He will be a GREAT Speaker of the House, & has my Complete & Total Endorsement!”
Trump’s endorsement for Jordan as Speaker of the House comes at a crucial time when the GOP is navigating through a transition phase.
Earlier this week, Representative Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) was removed from the Speaker position, sparking discussions and considerations regarding a suitable replacement.
