Former President Donald Trump, on Wednesday, verified from a New York courthouse the emerging discussion regarding his potential candidacy for the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.

The confirmation follows the unprecedented removal of Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) from the Speaker position on Tuesday.

Collin Rugg, co-owner of Trending Politics, brought attention to Trump’s confirmation on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, quoting the former President, “Donald Trump confirms from the New York courthouse that he has been asked about becoming the House Speaker, says he would do it.”

Trump expressed his openness to the role, underlining his dedication to both national and Republican Party interests.

He stated, “We’ll do whatever’s best for the country” and added his primary focus remains on the elections, but conveyed willingness to assist in the process if it benefits the nation and the party, “If I can help them during the process, I would do it.”

The discourse regarding Trump’s nomination began to circulate among conservative factions soon after McCarthy’s exit.

The proposition for a Trump speakership has generated a buzz in the political arena, with key figures voicing their support.

Notably, InfoWars host Alex Jones remarked on the symbolic importance of such a nomination amid the “fake charges” and “fake trials” aimed at Republicans, terming it an exceptional move to make Trump the Speaker of the House.

Similarly, right-wing media mogul Steve Bannon advocated for Trump’s nomination, highlighting the former President’s business prowess as a crucial asset to address the towering $33 trillion national debt.

The nomination gained further traction when Representative Troy Nehls (R-TX) openly nominated Trump for the Speaker role on X.

His nomination was shortly echoed by Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (MTG), who elaborated on her support by outlining a variety of issues she believes Trump would address effectively, including ending the conflict in Ukraine, bolstering border security, and promoting energy independence.

Greene emphasized Trump’s proven leadership during his presidential term, rallying for his nomination with the slogan “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!! 🇺🇸”

The U.S. Constitution does not necessitate the Speaker to be an incumbent House member, although historically, all Speakers have been members of the House.

This constitutional provision creates a pathway for the former President’s possible nomination, igniting debates and discussions among political circles regarding the future leadership of the House of Representatives.
