Texas AG Ken Paxton Breaks Fundraising Records Amid Controversial Impeachment Proceedings

Despite facing a contentious impeachment push from the Texas House over alleged improprieties, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has shattered personal fundraising records, bringing in $1.7 million in a mere 11 days.

The financial success was unveiled in a statement from Paxton’s office, which criticized the impeachment as a “sham and illegal” affair, The Post Millennial reports.

The impeachment proceedings against Paxton were initiated in May, following allegations of bribery and abuse of public trust.

Paxton dismissed these accusations in a statement, labeling them as “unfounded” and “politically motivated.”

In his defense, the Dallas County Republican Party also passed a unanimous resolution that harshly criticized the impeachment process, calling it an “unprecedented” action that was “an offense to Due Process.”

Despite claims by the House Speaker and his allies that Paxton’s political career was finished, the Attorney General defied expectations.

According to the statement, he not only broke his own fundraising records but also saw donations pour in from a total of “2,343 separate donors.”

In his press release, Paxton stated, “For years I have been fighting the federal government, Texas liberals and big government politicians who seek to limit our freedoms and destroy our Texas values.”

He added defiantly, “Not only will we survive this latest attack but we will come out of this stronger than ever. I will never stop fighting for Texans.”

The impeachment charges against Paxton were first drafted by a bipartisan investigative committee, consisting of three Republicans and two Democrats.

This committee proposed 20 articles of impeachment, accusing Paxton of actions such as “attempted conspiracy” and “unfitness for office.”

Paxton initially pushed back against the impeachment by accusing Speaker of the Texas House Dade Phelan, along with a “coalition of Democrats and liberal Republicans,” of collaborating with the Biden Administration.

According to Paxton, this alleged coalition supports Biden Administration policies on a range of issues, from abortion to illegal immigration.
