The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints indicated support Tuesday for legislation that would require states to recognize same-sex marriages performed under other states’ laws and repeal any federal law defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman, despite previously supporting efforts against same-sex marriage legalization.
An attorney with conservative legal firm Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) is warning the passage of the Respect for Marriage Act could end up “completely blowing up the understanding of marriage” while also sparking increased legal battles for Christians.
U.S. Senate voted Wednesday to advance the so-called Respect for Marriage Act (H.r. 8404), which "provides statutory authority for same-sex and interracial marriages” and revokes provisions that define marriage as between a man and a woman.
On her "Archetypes" podcast, Duchess Meghan Markle defended the idea of "woke," arguing that various words, including "woke" are "unnecessarily charged as it pertains to women."
