Two middle school teachers in California filed a federal lawsuit Thursday against the school district and the California State Board of Education over policies they say required them to lie to parents about their children's gender identity.
During a school board meeting on Tuesday, Mayor Staggs addressed his concerns about "inappropriate materials and pornographic materials" available to students in the district's libraries.
The legislation imposes a felony charge on doctors who perform sex-change surgeries on children, with penalties of up to 10 years in prison and $20,000 in fines.
