Republican state lawmakers across the U.S. want to require schools to post all course materials online so parents can review them, part of a broader national push by the GOP for a sweeping parents bill of rights ahead of the midterm congressional elections.
Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky told conservative website Daily Signal he's all for anti-vaccine trucker convoys to "clog up" metro areas across the U.S. Meanwhile, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has been well aware that truckers could soon embark for Washington, D.C. Still, this weekend, a more immediate threat could be a convoy headed to the Super Bowl in California.
The denigration of the Canadian trucker protest convoy exemplifies how freedom is now the biggest villain of the covid-19 pandemic. A Washington Post cartoonist portrayed the trucker convoy as “fascism” incarnate while another Post column derided the “toxic ‘Freedom Convoy.’” Anyone who resists any government command is apparently now a public enemy.
California and New York were the first areas in the country to take steps toward vaccine passports last year. New York City implemented it, but Orange County didn’t, thanks to the efforts of human rights Attorney Leigh Dundas and holocaust survivor Vera Sharav.
Thomas Welnicki from New York was charged on Saturday with knowingly and willfully threatening to kill, kidnap, and inflict bodily harm upon President Donald Trump.
In late September, Tennessee state Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson returned a $1,000 check Pfizer PAC had donated for the 2020 election. He then proceeded to sponsor a sweeping bill that ended most vaccine and mask mandates, a bill that was ultimately signed by the governor. Good for him. Now it’s time for the thousands of other state and federally elected Republicans to do the same.
