The US Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against the railway company for allegedly violating the Clean Water Act and CERCLA by discharging oil and hazardous substances into navigable waters, seeking civil penalties, a declaratory judgment, and orders to ensure safe transport of hazardous materials and mitigate harm caused by the violations.
