Bolsonaro Diagnosed with Skin Cancer as Legal and Health Challenges Mount

Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, a form of skin cancer, amid a wave of legal challenges that include a 27-year prison sentence for “crimes against democracy.”

Bolsonaro’s medical team confirmed on Wednesday that two of eight skin lesions removed during a recent procedure tested positive for the cancer, which is considered an intermediate type of skin malignancy. Despite his fragile health, the 70-year-old was discharged from DF Star Hospital in Brasília following treatment for vomiting, dizziness, low blood pressure, and presyncope.

Bolsonaro has been under house arrest since August, barred from speaking publicly or using electronic devices by order of Supreme Federal Tribunal (STF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes. His detention is under heavy scrutiny, as supporters claim it is part of a political campaign against him.

In addition to cancer, Bolsonaro is reportedly suffering from anemia, pneumonia, high blood pressure, and gastrointestinal issues. His medical team noted he would require ongoing follow-up and reassessment.

Legal tensions intensified further this week after a federal court fined Bolsonaro for “recreational racism” over a comment made to a supporter, despite the individual in question not filing a complaint. The timing of the charges, combined with the controversial 27-year sentence handed down by the STF for an alleged “coup plot,” has intensified claims of political persecution.

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio and former President Donald Trump have both condemned Bolsonaro’s treatment. Trump recently imposed a 50-percent tariff on Brazilian imports and sanctioned Justice de Moraes under the Global Magnitsky Act, citing human rights abuses.

Concerns have also surfaced regarding Bolsonaro’s potential transfer to the Papuda Prison Complex, a maximum-security facility in Brasília. Allies warn that Bolsonaro’s poor health may not withstand such conditions, and some fear his imprisonment there could lead to fatal consequences.

Supporters continue to gather outside hospitals and his residence, waving Brazilian, American, and Israeli flags and denouncing what they view as judicial overreach and political retribution.

Nancy Mace Moves to Dismantle DEI Offices in D.C. Government

Rep. Nancy Mace (R‑SC) has proposed the “No DEI in DC Act,” legislation aiming to dismantle Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) offices within the D.C. government. Mace argues that these DEI bodies waste taxpayer dollars and distract from fundamental city services, such as public safety, crime reduction, and infrastructure.

If enacted, the bill would eliminate 16 DEI‑related offices and commissions embedded in D.C. law — including the Office of Racial Equity, the Commission on Reparations, the Office of LGBTQ Affairs, and the Commission on Health Equity. It also seeks to remove DEI and racial equity training mandates, strike ideological language from statutory codes, and prohibit the creation of similar agencies under new names. A private right of action would allow individuals to enforce violations of the law.

Mace criticized DEI efforts as ideological showmanship that has turned D.C. into “an ideological playground.” She said the legislation reflects a priority shift toward public safety and essential services, aligning with what she describes as President Trump’s vision for restoring order in the capital. Mace also highlighted the lack of transparency regarding funds allocated to DEI work.

The bill is part of Mace’s broader push against DEI and related policies. Her agenda includes measures such as the Restoring Merit in the Military Act and proposals to ban DEI, Critical Race Theory, and related training in military academies and schools overseen by defense authorities.

Kirk Killer Accused of Explicit ‘Furry’ Game Use Amid Charges

Allegations are emerging that Tyler Robinson, the 22‑year‑old suspect charged with killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk, had an online history involving sexually explicit “furry” content. These reports, not yet independently verified in full, are drawing attention as the investigation proceeds.

According to media sources, Robinson reportedly used an alias (such as “craftin247”) on gaming and furry community platforms. He is said to have played a game called Furry Shades of Gay, described as involving gay pornography and other explicit content with anthropomorphic characters. Some of the accused artwork he viewed allegedly came from artists known for creating sexually explicit furry cartoons, and in one reported instance, including characters depicted underage. One such artist mentioned in reports is RedRusker.

Friends and sources cited in the reporting claim Robinson’s account also followed other content creators in those subcultures, and that he viewed material said to be controversial. The reports further allege that he used usernames consistent across multiple platforms.

Robinson was arraigned on charges including aggravated murder. Prosecutors have released texts (not all publicly available) in which he allegedly admits responsibility and discusses motive. These online behavior allegations are being examined in parallel with the physical evidence, like bullet casings found at the scene with inscriptions tied by some sources to internet memes, political symbols, or references to meme culture.

Robinson’s legal team has not confirmed all of these details. Because much of this information comes from secondary reporting by outlets that reference interviews, friends, or online posts, there remains uncertainty about accuracy and context. It is not clear which claims will be admissible in court, or how much will be verified by law enforcement.

U.S. Updates Naturalization Test

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that it has implemented the 2025 Naturalization Civics Test. According to a statement published on the Federal Register, the test “satisfies the statutory requirement for aliens to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of American history, and of the principles and form of government of the United States in pursuit of naturalization.”

Under the new test, migrants must answer 12 out of 20 questions correctly, rather than answering 6 out of 10 correctly. The questions that may be asked expanded from 100 to 128 and will affect those who file their naturalization applications on or after October 20.

“American citizenship is the most sacred citizenship in the world and should only be reserved for aliens who will fully embrace our values and principles as a nation,” said USCIS Spokesperson Matthew Tragesser. “By ensuring only those aliens who meet all eligibility requirements, including the ability to read, write, and speak English and understand U.S. government and civics, are able to naturalize, the American people can be assured that those joining us as fellow citizens are fully assimilated and will contribute to America’s greatness. These critical changes are the first of many.”

Changes to the naturalization civics test are the latest shifts from USCIS. The agency has already implemented good moral character standards, reviews of disability exceptions, and other requirements.

President Trump has also issued a letter to newly naturalized citizens, congratulating them on making the United States their homeland and standing as “part of one Nation under God.”

The letter will be presented to all new citizens by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) as part of Homeland Security’s effort to “restore sanity and common sense to our immigration system,” the department said.

Democrats Demand Answers After Kimmel Suspension

ABC (AP Photo/Mary Altaffer, File)

California Rep. Robert Garcia (D), the leading Democrat on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, announced an investigation into the suspension of late-night host Jimmy Kimmel.

“The Oversight Committee is launching an investigation into ABC, Sinclair, and the FCC,” the congressman wrote on X. “We will not be intimidated and we will defend the First Amendment.”

Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Whip Katherine Clark, Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar, Caucus Vice Chair Ted Lieu, Assistant Leader Joe Neguse, and DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene released a joint statement condemning Kimmel’s removal.

“Brendan Carr, the so-called Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, has engaged in the corrupt abuse of power. He has disgraced the office he holds by bullying ABC, the employer of Jimmy Kimmel, and forcing the company to bend the knee to the Trump administration. FCC Chair Brendan Carr should resign immediately,” the Democrats urged, insisting the Trump administration engaged in censorship.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said during his show, prompting backlash.

Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar’s broadcasting division, said that Kimmel’s comments were “offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse.”

“Continuing to give Mr. Kimmel a broadcast platform in the communities we serve is simply not in the public interest at the current time, and we have made the difficult decision to preempt his show in an effort to let cooler heads prevail as we move toward the resumption of respectful, constructive dialogue,” he said.

“Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done,” Trump declared on Truth Social. “Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible. That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!! President DJT”

Trump-Aligned AI Bill Targets China Threat

Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX) plans to introduce legislation aligning with President Trump’s AI Action Plan. Under the Growing University AI Research for Defense (GUARD) Act, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth would be permitted to create an AI Institute at a senior military college to integrate AI within the military.

The bill’s information, obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation, is intended to position the United States as a leader in the AI industry for defense.

“China and our adversaries are pouring massive resources into AI, and America cannot afford to fall behind,” Jackson told the outlet. “The GUARD Act delivers on President Trump’s mission to ensure America remains the global leader in defense innovation, giving our warfighters the AI-driven edge to dominate our enemies and protect America’s future.”

In July, the White House released its “Winning the AI Race: America’s AI Action Plan” in accordance with President Trump’s executive order on advancing American leadership in AI development.

“Winning the AI race will usher in a new golden age of human flourishing, economic competitiveness, and national security for the American people,” the White House said. Policies listed in the plan include exporting American AI around the world, developing data centers, supporting innovation by removing barriers, and preserving free speech in AI models.

“The United States must aggressively adopt AI within its Armed Forces if it is to maintain its global military preeminence while also ensuring, as outlined throughout this Action Plan, that its use of AI is secure and reliable,” the action plan read, discussing AI within the Department of Defense. “Because the DOD has unique operational needs within the Federal government, it merits specific policy actions to drive AI adoption.”

DOJ Demands Supreme Court Let Trump Remove Lisa Cook

The Justice Department is calling for the Supreme Court to allow President Trump’s removal of Lisa Cook from the Federal Reserve.

“That the Federal Reserve Board plays a uniquely important role in the American economy only heightens the government’s and the public’s interest in ensuring that an ethically compromised member does not continue wielding its vast powers,” the administration’s filing states. “Put simply, the President may reasonably determine that interest rates paid by the American people should not be set by a Governor who appears to have lied about facts material to the interest rates she secured for herself and refuses to explain the apparent misrepresentations.”

Solicitor General John Sauer argues in the filing that the president’s decision to remove Cook is “not subject to judicial review.”

“This Court has left open whether an exception to the removal power, grounded in history and tradition, allows Congress to restrict the President’s power to remove members of the Federal Reserve Board,” Sauer asserts. “But no such historical exception could authorize judicial review of the President’s finding of cause, since courts have traditionally treated such findings as unreviewable.”

Cook sued President Trump last month, claiming her removal was “unprecedented and illegal.”

“President Trump’s conception of ’cause’ has no limiting principle,” the lawsuit says. “It would allow him to remove any Federal Reserve Board member with whom he disagrees about policy based on chalked-up allegations.”

Trump’s effort to remove Cook “would subvert the Federal Reserve Act … which explicitly requires a showing of ’cause’ for a Governor’s removal, which an unsubstantiated allegation about private mortgage applications submitted by Governor Cook prior to her Senate confirmation is not,” the filing adds.

US Shutters ‘All Frameworks’ Linked to Censorship

The State Department has closed all Frameworks to Counter Foreign State Information Manipulation at the direction of Secretary Marco Rubio.

According to a statement by Principal Deputy Spokesperson Thomas “Tommy” Pigott, the closure follows Rubio’s April direction to close the Counter Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (R/FIMI) Hub, previously known as the Global Engagement Center (GEC).

“The Framework, initially launched by the GEC to counter so-called disinformation, devolved into tools for political censorship instead of protecting Americans from foreign adversarial propaganda,” Pigott said, adding, “Through free speech, the United States will counter genuine malign propaganda from adversaries that threaten our national security, while protecting Americans’ right to exchange ideas.”

Rubio’s April announcement of the closure of the (R/FIMI) noted that the previous administration “spent millions of dollars to actively silence and censor the voices of Americans they were supposed to be serving.” He called the action “antithetical to the very principles we should be upholding,” noting that it was “inconceivable it was taking place in America.”

The State Department’s actions stand in support of President Trump’s January 20 Executive Order on Restoring Freedom of Speech and Ending Federal Censorship. Trump’s order ensures that “no taxpayer resources are used to engage in or facilitate any conduct that would unconstitutionally abridge the free speech of any American citizen” and secures the “right of the American people to engage in constitutionally protected speech.”

Open the Books reported in 2024 that the Biden administration spent more than a quarter of a billion taxpayer dollars on “misinformation” efforts.

Erika Kirk Named New Turning USA Point CEO

Erika Kirk, widow of Charlie Kirk, has been unanimously elected as the new CEO and board chair of Turning Point USA. TPUSA noted that “Charlie expressed to multiple executives that this is what he wanted in the event of his death.”

“In Ecclesiastes, King Solomon wrote that mankind is to be tested by God. Today we are facing such a test, yet we also know that God has prepared us with everything we need to overcome this ordeal,” board members Doug De Groote, Mike Miller, Tom Sodeika, and David Engelhardt wrote in a statement shared on social media. “It was the honor of our lives to serve as board members at Charlie’s side. Charlie prepared all of us for a moment like this one. He worked tirelessly to ensure Turning Point USA was built to survive even the greatest tests. And now, it is our great pride to announce Erika Kirk as the new CEO and Chair of the Board for Turning Point USA.”

“All of us at Turning Point USA have a special role in carrying Charlie Kirk’s mantle and completing his vision of bringing us all closer to our Lord and fostering a prosperous country for generations to come,” the board wrote, adding they “will not surrender or kneel before evil,” but will “carry on.”

“May God Bless Erika, the Kirk family, and the entire team and Turning Point USA,” the announcement concluded.

In delivering her first public remarks since the assassination of her husband, Erika Kirk said, “They killed Charlie because he preached, a message of patriotism, faith and of God’s merciful love. They should all know this. If you thought that my husband’s mission was powerful before, you have no idea. You have no idea what you just have unleashed across this entire country, in this world. You have no idea. You have no idea the fire that you have ignited within this wife, the cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry.”

“To everyone listening tonight across America, the movement my husband built will not die,” she said. “It won’t. I refuse to let that happen. It will not die. All of us will refuse to let that happen. No one will ever forget my husband’s name and I will make sure of it. It will become stronger, bolder, louder, and greater than ever.”

Oberlin Student’s Shocking Call ‘to bring back political assassinations’

Controversy has erupted at Oberlin College after second-year politics major Julia Xu openly called for targeted political assassinations in the wake of conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

“We need to bring back political assassinations,” Xu wrote on social media under the handle @bringbacktheguillotine. She added, “I don’t feel bad and I don’t think that everyone deserves the right to free speech. Some people should be afraid to express their opinion in public.”

Xu, who grew up in Connecticut, serves on the advisory board of Oberlin’s Gender, Sexuality and Attraction Initiatives and is a member of Students for a Free Palestine. Her remarks came during class time in a course on socialism and reform in China, where she admitted her views were influenced by Chairman Mao’s authoritarian policies.

According to Xu, classmates reacted with shock. “The worst thing that was said in that class was that it was a shame that Charlie Kirk died because he was such a huge figure in the right-wing movement and now, who will be left to debate?” she recalled.

After backlash, Xu apologized, claiming, “I do not actually advocate for political assassinations … I do not condone political violence, and my comments were tactless.”

Oberlin College distanced itself from Xu’s remarks. President Carmen Twillie Ambar stated, “Last week, in an open letter, I wrote ‘there is no place for political violence in the America that I love.’ It threatens our sense of safety and well-being and it violates the sanctity of the nation’s civil discourse.”

Her words underscored a broader concern—that violent rhetoric on campuses risks undermining civil dialogue in America.
