Oberlin Student’s Shocking Call ‘to bring back political assassinations’

Controversy has erupted at Oberlin College after second-year politics major Julia Xu openly called for targeted political assassinations in the wake of conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

“We need to bring back political assassinations,” Xu wrote on social media under the handle @bringbacktheguillotine. She added, “I don’t feel bad and I don’t think that everyone deserves the right to free speech. Some people should be afraid to express their opinion in public.”

Xu, who grew up in Connecticut, serves on the advisory board of Oberlin’s Gender, Sexuality and Attraction Initiatives and is a member of Students for a Free Palestine. Her remarks came during class time in a course on socialism and reform in China, where she admitted her views were influenced by Chairman Mao’s authoritarian policies.

According to Xu, classmates reacted with shock. “The worst thing that was said in that class was that it was a shame that Charlie Kirk died because he was such a huge figure in the right-wing movement and now, who will be left to debate?” she recalled.

After backlash, Xu apologized, claiming, “I do not actually advocate for political assassinations … I do not condone political violence, and my comments were tactless.”

Oberlin College distanced itself from Xu’s remarks. President Carmen Twillie Ambar stated, “Last week, in an open letter, I wrote ‘there is no place for political violence in the America that I love.’ It threatens our sense of safety and well-being and it violates the sanctity of the nation’s civil discourse.”

Her words underscored a broader concern—that violent rhetoric on campuses risks undermining civil dialogue in America.

McDonald’s Backs American Ranchers in New Effort

Fast food chain McDonald’s announced that it will invest hundreds of millions of dollars into regenerative practices on cattle ranches. The effort supports the MAHA movement, as the company’s initiative “helps demonstrate its continued commitment to responsible beef sourcing and stewardship of natural resources,” McDonald’s said.

The initiative, called the Grassland Resilience and Conservation Initiative, is in partnership with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF), the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and U.S. suppliers. McDonald’s will invest more than $200 million over the next seven years to “promote and accelerate regenerative grazing practices, habitat restoration, water and wildlife conservation on cattle ranches spanning 4 million acres across up to 38 states,” the company explained.

“As a brand that serves more than 90% of Americans every year, we recognize the responsibility we have to help safeguard our food systems for long-term vitality,” said Cesar Piña, Senior Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer, North America. “Through our support of this initiative, McDonald’s USA is demonstrating the power of partnership between the public and private sectors and that feeding the population and stewarding our natural resources can coexist.”

Jeff Trandahl, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer at NFWF, explained, “When cattle are managed to optimize multiple ecological and economic values, the land holds more water, grows better grass and supports more wildlife. Conservation practices voluntarily adopted by ranchers can improve the productivity of grasslands, increase ranching profitability and strengthen the vitality of rural communities across the United States.”

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. thanked McDonald’s for its effort. “Thank you, [McDonald’s], for committing a record $200 million investment into regenerative agriculture,” he wrote on social media. “This is a big win for regenerative grazing practices, habitat restoration, water and wildlife conservation.”

FBI Probes Armed Queers SLC Founder Tied to Communist Politics in Kirk Assassination Probe

The FBI is investigating Armed Queers SLC founder Ermiya Fanaeian, a radical transgender activist with ties to communist politics, after the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Law enforcement sources confirmed that agents are reviewing whether the group had connections to accused sniper Tyler Robinson.

Armed Queers SLC scrubbed its online presence following Kirk’s death, but investigators secured a cache of posts from Fanaeian, the child of Iranian immigrants. Her social media called for “Revolution + Trans liberation in our lifetime!” and she openly declared, “Sometimes violence, protest, and really riots and those kinds of loud rebellions must take place for tangible change.”

Despite her extreme rhetoric, Fanaeian had previously been embraced by mainstream institutions. In 2022, Utah Global Diplomacy honored her with a “7 for 17” award for “gender equality,” a recognition partly funded by government grants. A State Department official has since announced those ties are being severed: “We are taking aggressive action to ensure that any implementor that has any relationship whatsoever with this radical organization is completely cut off from any State Department engagement.”

Fanaeian has long blended leftist politics with gun activism. She first led a Pink Pistols chapter in Utah before being disavowed for using the group’s name to push a broader agenda. In 2020, she launched Armed Queers SLC, which hosted a University of Utah lecture on “queer resistance” featuring flyers with an image of a young woman gripping an AK-47. She also organized a Party for Socialism and Liberation student group, praising Marx, Lenin, and Fidel Castro.

“The Party for Socialism and Liberation is not a liberal movement — we are a leftist movement,” Fanaeian once said. “We are an anti-capitalist movement. We are a working class revolutionary movement.”

Judge Orders Mahmoud Khalil Deported Citing Concerning Visa Omissions

A federal immigration judge has ordered Mahmoud Khalil deported after ruling that he concealed politically sensitive affiliations on his U.S. green card application.

Judge Jamee Comans issued the decision Sept. 12 in Louisiana, finding that Khalil failed to disclose his internship with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and his ties to Columbia University Apartheid Divest, an anti-Israel campus coalition.

Court filings unsealed Wednesday show Comans cited Khalil’s activism as central to her ruling. She denied his motion for relief, writing that the omissions were deliberate and warranted removal. Federal authorities argued the omissions raised “national security and foreign policy concerns.”

Khalil, a legal permanent resident, was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in March at his Manhattan apartment and detained for more than three months in Louisiana. He was released in June after U.S. District Judge Michael Farbiarz ruled he was not a flight risk or danger to the public but temporarily blocked removal while reviewing Khalil’s claims of political retaliation.

Khalil and his legal team framed the case as a civil rights battle. “It is no surprise that the Trump administration continues to retaliate against me for my exercise of free speech,” Khalil said. “Their latest attempt, through a kangaroo immigration court, exposes their true colors once again.”

The ruling comes as concerns grow over foreign activists exploiting the U.S. immigration system while maintaining ties to radical organizations. As Comans emphasized, deliberate omissions on green card applications carry serious consequences—especially when linked to groups hostile to America’s allies.

US Looking to Regain Control of Air Base from Taliban

The United States is working to regain control over an air base that is currently in the Taliban’s possession.

Standing alongside UK Prime Minister Kier Starmer, President Trump said his administration is “trying” to recover U.S. Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan from the Taliban.

“We’re trying to get it back by the way,” Trump said. “That could be a little breaking news, we’re trying to get it back because they need things from us. We want that base back. But one of the reasons we want the base is it’s an hour away from where China makes its nuclear weapons. So a lot of things are happening.”

Earlier this year, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth opened an investigation into the Biden-era Afghanistan withdrawal, an operation that led to the deaths of 13 U.S. service members.

“President Trump promised accountability for what transpired during that military withdrawal, and I am committed to delivering on that promise,” Hegseth said in a statement at the time. “We have an obligation to the American people and to the warfighters who fought in Afghanistan to get the truth – and we will.”

President Trump announced last month that August 26 would be set apart to honor the service members involved in the Abbey Gate attack during the failed Afghanistan withdrawal.

“On one of the darkest days in our Nation’s history, 4 years ago, the gates of hell sprung open when an evil Jihadi terrorist carried out a suicide bombing in Kabul, Afghanistan — killing 13 heroes of our United States Armed Forces and shattering the hearts of Americans and our allies,” Trump’s proclamation reads. “As our Nation remembers this atrocious attack, we honor the memory of every brave warrior who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. We join in grief with the families who senselessly lost a loved one, and we renew our solemn pledge to our 13 fallen patriots — we will never forget you; we will never forsake you; and your memory will live on forever.”

MIT Anti-Semitism Lawsuit Claims Researcher Fired for Being Jewish

A new lawsuit alleges widespread MIT anti-Semitism, claiming the Massachusetts Institute of Technology ignored harassment against an Israeli postdoctoral researcher before ultimately firing him “because he is Jewish and Israeli.”

The amended complaint, filed Wednesday by the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law, says students “began tormenting and shunning him based on his Jewish and Israeli identity,” while his supervising professor “vilified [Doe] in front of students,” assigned him menial tasks, and eventually terminated his contract. Doe’s pleas to administrators, including MIT president Sally Kornbluth, went unanswered.

The allegations describe a hostile campus environment. In May 2024, masked protesters pushed Doe against a wall and shouted, “Who are you? What are you doing here?” He later emailed Kornbluth with the subject line, “I don’t feel safe anymore at MIT,” but received no reply, the complaint states.

The suit also claims students mocked his heritage, saying “Zionists control the world,” and referred to him as “a postdoc from Palestine.” One student allegedly kept a list of Jewish students and asked if Doe’s wife was Jewish, remarking, “Her nose looks Jewish so she is probably Jewish.”

The case comes amid a House Education and Workforce Committee investigation into MIT after reports that anti-Israel demonstrators harassed Jewish students and vandalized campus property. MIT spokeswoman Kimberly Allen said the school “will vigorously defend itself in court.”

Brandeis Center chairman Kenneth L. Marcus accused the university of enabling hostility. “MIT has had countless opportunities to stop this harassment and protect their Israeli and Jewish students and faculty,” he said. “Instead, anti-Semitism has only worsened at MIT – an outcome made possible by the administration’s continued negligence.”

New Bill Memorializes Charlie Kirk on Arizona Highway

Arizona Senate President Warren Petersen introduced legislation to rename State Route 202 in honor of Charlie Kirk.

The highway, urged to be renamed the Charlie Kirk Memorial Loop 202, ensures that Kirk’s “faith, influence on America’s youth, and his devotion to God, family, and country will never be forgotten,” a press release from Peterson’s office says.

“Wednesday, September 10, 2025, will forever be noted in history as a dark day where evil in its truest form was on full display,” Petersen said in a statement. “Charlie Kirk was assassinated in cold blood by a cowardly terrorist and was targeted for his influence. But we must press forward. While Charlie Kirk cannot be replaced, this effort can make sure his legacy lives on.”

He added, “We all have a role to play in carrying on Charlie’s legacy,” explaining that through “God’s grace, by renaming this highway we can ensure that his name, his mission, and his witness to the gospel will endure for generations to come. Even in the midst of sorrow, God’s Word reminds us that hope endures. Renaming this highway is a small step toward honoring Charlie’s immense contribution, but it is also a call for each of us to press on in faith, to live courageously for Jesus, and to stand firm in the principles Charlie so boldly championed.”

Tyler Bower, head of Turning Point Action, thanked Peterson for the bill. “The 202 is my home freeway that surrounds the entire east valley. Where I grew up, and where Turning Point had both of its first offices,” he wrote on X. “So many of our activists that helped grow [Turning Point USA] call the east valley home. Thank you [Peterson].”

President Trump Moves to Declare Antifa a Terrorist Organization

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he wants to designate antifa a major terrorist organization, escalating his administration’s crackdown on left-wing extremism.

On Truth Social, Trump described antifa as “A SICK, DANGEROUS, RADICAL LEFT DISASTER.” He said he will be “strongly recommending” that individuals and groups funding antifa face thorough investigations under federal law.

The president’s remarks come just days after he said he would “100%” consider such a designation. Speaking in the Oval Office Monday, Trump accused antifa activists of being “professional agitators” tied to recent clashes with immigration enforcement. “Antifa is terrible,” Trump said. “These aren’t protests, these are crimes that they’re doing. They’re throwing bricks at cars of the ICE and Border Patrol. … They’re professional agitators. … They should be put in jail. What they’re doing to this country is really subversive.”

Authorities have increasingly linked antifa-aligned activists to violent tactics, including doxxing, property destruction, and assaults on political opponents. The announcement followed the Sept. 10 assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, whose alleged killer left behind bullet casings engraved with “Hey fascist! Catch!” and a lyric from an anti-fascist anthem.

Trump pointed to that attack as evidence of the radical left’s growing threat. “We have a radical left group of lunatics out there, just absolute lunatics, and we’re going to get that problem solved,” he said on Sept. 11 before boarding Marine One.

Even as he pledged decisive action, Trump called for a measured public response, emphasizing that Kirk himself always urged non-violence in political debate.

Hakeem Jeffries’s Refusal to Endorse Mamdani Sparks Bitter Democrat Civil War

House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.) is under fire as his refusal to endorse Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for New York City mayor, fuels an internal party revolt. Progressive lawmakers told Axios they are “100%” frustrated with Jeffries, with one asking, “Is this a leader that truly represents me, or will this leader discard me when people think I’m too progressive?”

Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) also blasted party leaders for staying neutral. “That kind of spineless politics is what people are sick of. They need to get behind [Mamdani] and get behind him now,” he said Saturday. Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) has likewise declined to back Mamdani, highlighting the party’s deep divide.

Moderate Democrats see Mamdani as a liability. A self-described democratic socialist, he has proposed a $30 minimum wage, government-run grocery stores, and major tax hikes. He has also drawn scrutiny for anti-Israel rhetoric. In June, Mamdani defended the protest chant “globalize the intifada,” a phrase widely criticized as calling for violence against Jews. His campaign announced this week he would drop the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of anti-Semitism if elected.

Jewish leaders condemned the move. “A government that disavows IHRA isn’t serious about defeating anti-Semitism,” Brandeis Center senior counsel Rory Lancman told the New York Post, “but rather allowing it.”

Jeffries has repeatedly deflected questions, telling reporters, “I’ll have more to say about the mayor’s race when I have more to say about the mayor’s race.” But behind the scenes, Democrats remain split between alienating Jewish and moderate voters—or risking a civil war with the socialist base. As longtime Democratic operative Hank Sheinkopf warned, “Mamdani is the greatest threat to Democrats probably since Ronald Reagan because he’s everything Democrats have been accused of being and in fact is—to the extreme.”

Trump’s UK Agreement Supercharges U.S. Innovation

The United States and the United Kingdom reached a historic technology deal on Thursday as President Donald Trump met with Prime Minister Kier Starmer.

The Technology Prosperity Deal is expresses “mutual interest in science and technology capabilities and standards to usher in the next Golden Age of Innovation to fortify freedom and prosperity for generations to come” and affirms the “common desire to enhance cooperation in science and technology matters that support initiatives of mutual interest that produce tangible benefits to their citizens,” the memorandum reads.

It further recognizes the complementary work between the two countries in the technology sector and welcomes their partnership to “maintain and strengthen their strategic leadership in science and technology, leveraging shared values, complementary capabilities, and coordinated policy approaches to address global challenges.”

The agreement accelerates AI development, unleashes nuclear energy, secures quantum technology, and supports frontier innovation.

President Trump said of the agreement, “We’re taking the next logical step with a historic agreement on science and technology partnerships, and this will create new government, academic and private sector cooperation.”

Michael Kratsios, Assistant to the President and Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, said the “game-changing deal” supports “American technology leadership and strengthens ties to one of our closest allies. With the TPD, the United States is exporting its world-class tech stack, accelerating scientific discovery, and advancing pro-innovation policies worldwide.”

Earlier this week, the United States and the United Kingdom announced a new nuclear energy deal called the Atlantic Partnership for Advanced Nuclear Energy, described as the “golden age” of nuclear.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the deal a “landmark” partnership that will “set us well on course to a golden age of nuclear that will drive down household bills in the long run, while delivering thousands of good jobs in the short term.”
