A stunning revelation about the Democratic Socialists of America has emerged: more than half of the organization’s governing body openly supports communism, Marxism, or Marxist Leninism.
The bombshell data, highlighted during a Saturday broadcast of “The Alex Marlow Show,” came from Julian Epstein, who served as Democratic Chief Counsel for the House Judiciary Committee. Epstein pointed to investigative work done by The Free Press that exposed the radical ideological makeup of the DSA’s policy committee.
“By the way, the Free Press has done a great piece this week showing that 51% of the policy committee, which is the governing board of the DSA, all openly embrace communism, Marxism or Marxist Leninism,” Epstein said during the radio program.
The figure is striking. Not a fringe minority. Not a handful of extremists. A clear majority of the people steering one of America’s most prominent far-left political organizations publicly align themselves with ideologies that have left a trail of oppression, economic collapse, and death across the twentieth century.
The DSA has grown significantly in recent years, attracting young progressives and claiming several elected officials among its ranks. The organization styles itself as advocating for “democratic socialism,” a term that sounds softer to American ears than outright communism. But the numbers tell a different story about who’s actually running the show.
For American families watching the political landscape, this matters. The DSA isn’t some obscure political club meeting in basements. Its endorsed candidates have won elections. Its members have shaped policy debates. Its ideology has seeped into mainstream Democratic Party conversations about healthcare, housing, and the economy.
And now we know: the majority of those setting the DSA’s direction aren’t just pushing for bigger government or expanded social programs. They’re embracing the same failed systems that enslaved nations behind the Iron Curtain, starved millions in Soviet Ukraine, and turned Cuba and Venezuela into cautionary tales of economic ruin.
Epstein’s willingness to highlight this data is notable. As a former Democratic counsel, he’s not coming from the political right. He’s someone with deep roots in the Democratic establishment pointing out uncomfortable truths about a movement that has attached itself to his party’s progressive wing.
The timing of The Free Press investigation adds urgency. Americans heading into another election cycle deserve to understand exactly what ideologies are gaining ground in political organizations that claim to represent working people.
Communism and Marxism aren’t abstract academic theories. They’re systems that, wherever they’ve been implemented, have resulted in the concentration of power, the crushing of religious liberty, and the destruction of the family unit. For believers who understand that our rights come from God, not government, these ideologies represent a fundamental threat to everything we hold dear.
The DSA may wrap its messaging in talk of “workers” and “fairness,” but when 51% of its leadership openly embraces ideologies hostile to faith, freedom, and the American way of life, voters deserve to know.
