DOJ Indicts 11 Pro-Life Activists Outside Abortion Clinic

The Biden Department of Justice indicted 11 pro-life protesters for demonstrating outside of a Tennessee abortion clinic earlier this year.

QUICK FACTS:
  • The Department of Justice indicted 11 activists on the account of violating the ‘FACE Act’ outside of a Tennessee abortion clinic Wednesday.
  • The federal FACE Act prohibits civilians from blocking entrance to abortion clinics while protesting.
  • The DOJ argued the group prevented employees and patients from entering the building in March 2022, with some protesters facing up to 11 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
  • Fox News reported that seven of the activists were charged with “conspiracy against rights secured by the FACE Act” and the four others with committing FACE Act violations.
DIRECTOR OF PRO-LIFE GROUP ‘PROGRESSIVE ANTI-ABORTION UPRISING’:

“The weaponization of this office has led to the unjust targeting of peaceful pro-life activists such as Mark Houck, Father Fidelis, Lauren Handy, and others. Alternatively, Garland’s Justice Department has allowed violent pro-abortion groups to continue their terrorization of churches and pregnancy centers across the country,” Terrisa Bukovinac SAID.

BACKGROUND:
  • The indictment comes just a few weeks after the FBI raided the home of a well-known pro-life advocate and arrested him in front of his crying children for “violating” the FACE Act in Oct. 2021.
  • Mark Houck, a father of seven, is frequently seen sidewalk counseling in front of Philadelphia abortion businesses to help women choose pro-life alternatives.
  • According to his wife, 25-30 armed FBI agents raided their home as his wife and kids watched as he was arrested. His wife said they entered the home and pointed rifles at them as their kids began screaming.
