Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) sparked backlash after unleashing a profane outburst against the Supreme Court over its decision to temporarily uphold Texas’ revised congressional districts. In a video posted to her YouTube account Sunday, Crockett directly attacked the Court while accusing President Donald Trump and Republicans of manipulating redistricting ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
bb“Obviously, Trump is still doing his bidding with these state Houses and state Senates and governor’s mansions to try to rig the system,” Crockett said. “Kudos to Indiana for saying [expletive]-you. Kudos to California for saying we’re going to fight back.” She later escalated the profane outburst, adding, “Definitely kudos to the Trump justice who wrote the 160-page opinion denouncing what took place in Texas and [expletive]- you to the Supreme Court for what they did as well as, you know, we’ll see what happens in some other places.”
The Supreme Court issued an order in December keeping Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s redrawn congressional districts in place ahead of the November elections. The updated maps are projected to add as many as five Republican-held House seats. The redistricting also moved Crockett out of her current district, a development that preceded her announcement of a Senate run.
The ruling has fueled partisan responses nationwide. California Gov. Gavin Newsom advanced a ballot initiative aimed at creating five additional Democratic-leaning districts, while Indiana’s Republican-led state Senate rejected a proposal to add two GOP seats.
Crockett also renewed calls for Supreme Court reform, referencing her role on the Court Reform Now Task Force in 2024. “I just feel like there are certain spots on the Supreme Court that were illegitimately gotten for sure,” she said, arguing that changes to the Court are necessary to “shore up the checks and balances.”
