Criticism Arises Over Absent Mental and Cognitive Exams in Biden’s Physical

According to ABC News’s chief medical correspondent, there were “glaring omissions” in President Joe Biden’s recently released physical report.

As reported by BizPac Review, the 81-year-old president underwent his annual exam at Walter Reed on Wednesday. Appearing on “The View” on Friday, Dr. Jennifer Ashton highlighted what was absent from the report, according to Fox News Digital.

“We do what’s called a review of systems any time we do a physical exam on someone,” she explained. “That includes not only just general neurologic evaluation but a mental evaluation, a screening for depression or psychiatric illness, mental illness, anxiety — not in there. Cognitive exam — not in there.”

While the report may have seemed comprehensive to Biden’s physician, Ashton noted, “if you’re a health care professional, you know what things have not been in there.”

Co-host Joy Behar downplayed the missing evaluations and urged Dr. Ashton to do the same.

“The question is, can he do the job, and it looks like he can,” Behar asserted.

Ashton refrained from stating that Biden wasn’t fit for duty.

“I am not his physician,” she responded, “but again, he does have a qualified physician, and it was a thorough report, but something is missing.”

Following President Biden’s exam, White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor stated, “President Biden is a healthy, active 81-year-old male, who remains fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency, to include those as Chief Executive, Head of State and Commander in Chief.”

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre informed reporters that “it is not the norm” to have a president’s doctor answer questions in the briefing room.

“It is not the norm,” she emphasized on Wednesday. “It has happened a couple of times over the 35 years, but it’s not the norm.”

Jean-Pierre asserted that President Biden doesn’t require a cognitive test and operates on the “granular level” every day.

“That is not my assessment,” she stated. “That is the assessment of the president’s doctor. That is also the assessment of the neurologist who has also made that assessment as well.”

“And, you know,” she continued, “and you’ve heard us say this, and I’ll reiterate this, the president’s doctor has said, if you look at what this president, the president, who is also the commander in chief, he passes a cognitive test every day. Every day. As he moves from one topic to another topic try– understanding the granular level of these topics.”
