Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian declared in his address at the United Nations General Assembly that Iran was only pursuing a “peaceful” nuclear program.
“They have labeled centrifuges, international sanctions, other labels when it comes to our nuclear technology, but for our country, peaceful nuclear technology is part of our inherent progress for our sick people,” he said. “In progress in supply of electrical energy in Iran does not accept for nuclear technology to be at the exclusive disposal of some of a handful.”
The leader went on to condemn pressure placed on his country by the United States and others, asserting, “We will not bow our heads in developing the right that is inherently ours,” he continued. “We say it clearly no nuclear weapons and no limitations to peaceful nuclear technology. Our peace will not come on the field of battle.”
Pezeshkian also accused the United States of attacking Iran unprovoked, which led U.S. delegates walking out. “We are only defending ourselves, we are not terrorists,” he declared, arguing that Iran has been the “target of cowardly attacks and aggressions imposed upon our country.”
President Trump said yesterday that Iran made a “big mistake” in failing to take up his deal of “full economic cooperation in exchange for ending their nuclear program and support for terror.”
He added that he has a “big decision” to make. “Will a deal be made with Iran that lets them rebuild and create a far greater country than it ever was before?” he asked. “Maybe one of the greatest in the Middle East or even the world. Or do I annihilate the Islamic Republic and do it quickly, never giving them a chance to kill and destroy people and countries again?”
