The Democratic Socialists of America have endorsed 163 candidates for the 2026 midterm elections, and every single one of them has committed to a platform that includes abolishing the presidency, the U.S. Senate, and the Supreme Court.
That’s not speculation. That’s what DSA co-chair Megan Romer confirmed on national television Sunday when she appeared on Shannon Bream’s “Fox News Sunday” and laid out the organization’s long-term goals for America. The list reads like a blueprint for dismantling the nation: eliminate the three pillars of constitutional government, defund the Pentagon, abolish prisons and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, erase the nation’s borders, and grant amnesty to illegal aliens.
“We’re not saying open the borders tomorrow,” Romer told Bream. “We’re saying rebuild and imagine a society that works for everyone, and the open borders is part of a longer-term, international plan that involves us stopping destabilizing countries.”
Of the 163 DSA-endorsed candidates, 30 are running for Congress. Five have already won their Democratic primaries and will appear on the November ballot as official Democratic Party nominees. Ten others lost their primary bids. The most prominent name on the endorsement list is Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY)
The Daily Signal reached out to the organization for comment but received no response. However, the group’s website confirms everything Romer said on air. Their Workers Deserve More 2025-2026 Program explicitly calls for “full voting rights to all permanent U.S. residents,” a category that includes illegal immigrants. The platform also demands expanding the House of Representatives, implementing proportional representation and ranked-choice voting in all elections, and abolishing the Senate entirely.
Candidates seeking the DSA endorsement must meet the standards set by the party’s National Electoral Commission. That means committing to “uphold DSA’s national policy platform, Workers Deserve More, and DSA’s national priorities, campaigns and initiatives.” In other words, every endorsed candidate has agreed to support the radical goals Romer outlined to Bream.
Speaker Mike Johnson responded to the interview on social media, posting the DSA platform and warning Americans about what’s at stake.
“Abolish the Senate, the Presidency, the Supreme Court and immigration enforcement. Open the border wide. Grant mass amnesty. Defund the Pentagon,” Johnson wrote. “The barbarians are inside the gate, and Democrats are WELCOMING them in!”
When Bream asked Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) about the Democratic Party’s relationship with DSA candidates, some of whom are running for offices they want to eliminate, the Virginia senator offered no resistance.
“I do think the Democratic Party has always been known as a big tent,” Kaine said. “If somebody says, ‘I’m a DSA candidate,’ I don’t think you should use that to throw them out. Candidates have to rise and fall on their own merits.”
That response will likely trouble voters who expect their elected officials to at least defend the existence of the institutions they serve in. A candidate running for Senate while supporting the abolition of the Senate isn’t a matter of policy disagreement. It’s a fundamental question of whether that person believes in the American system of government at all.
