Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy is facing serious allegations from his fiancée, Tia Jones, who has applied for a protective order, claiming he choked her until she feared for her life.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, Jones alleges that Worthy has physically assaulted her at least five times over the past year. The first reported incident occurred in October 2024, when Worthy allegedly pushed Jones to the ground during an argument about his mother’s comments. Jones claims another altercation took place around Christmas, where Worthy allegedly slammed her on the bed and choked her. She says she warned him never to do it again, but the violence continued, including an incident where she claims he grabbed her throat and slammed her head into a closet door, chipping her tooth.
The most recent alleged attack, which led to Worthy’s arrest on March 7, was described by Jones as the most violent. She claims Worthy became enraged over her lack of attention to him and his new dog, then slammed her against a wall, called her derogatory names, and physically assaulted her. Jones states that Worthy lifted her off the ground by her throat, slammed her onto the floor, and choked her multiple times, at one point using his knee to apply pressure to her neck. She said she felt like she “was going to die.”
Worthy was arrested and charged with assault and battery, but the district attorney declined to prosecute. Worthy’s attorneys, Chip Lewis and Sam Bassett, maintain his innocence, stating the DA’s decision supports their claim that the allegations are “unfounded.”
Jones was granted a temporary protective order on Wednesday. Neither the Chiefs nor the NFL have commented on whether Worthy will face disciplinary action.
