Two Percent of Americans Received Latest COVID-19 Booster

Data from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) found that only 2% of Americans, or 7 million people, received the latest COVID-19 booster vaccine.

The vaccine is authorized for those aged 6 months and older.

According to an HHS spokesperson, “COVID-19 vaccine distribution, which has shifted to the private market, is a lot different than it was last year when the government was distributing them.”

The agency is working “directly with manufacturers and distributors to ensure that the vaccines are getting to pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, pediatricians, and other vaccination sites, including long-term care facilities.”

“As a result, more than 7 million Americans have received their updated COVID vaccine in September, and 91% of Americans 12 years and older can access the vaccine within 5 miles of where they live. Just as we did last vaccine season, we will be working to reach Americans where they are and inform them of the updated vaccines and where they can get them.”

The Epoch Times reported that the updated booster vaccines were “meant to target the COVID-19 XBB.1.5 variant.”
