Female Prison Inmates Praise Trump’s Two Gender Policy

Some female prisoners are pleading for President Donald Trump to step in and protect them from biological men who claim a female identity to gain access to women’s prisons, where they allegedly abuse female inmates.

Under the Biden administration, policies were enacted to extend protections for individuals identifying as transgender, including a Bureau of Prisons rule that allowed males who identify as females to be housed in women’s correctional facilities. President Trump, however, has vowed to reverse such policies should he return to the White House, offering hope to women who feel vulnerable under the current system.

Rhonda Fleming, a federal prisoner serving a 27-year sentence for Medicare fraud at Carswell Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas, recently filed a lawsuit challenging the housing of biological men in women’s prisons.

However, a judge ruled against her case, according to the Daily Mail. Fleming criticized the Biden administration for undoing policies implemented by Trump in 2018, which had aimed to address this issue. “Trump tried to help in 2018 by changing the policy,” Fleming said, “but as soon as he was out of office, Biden overturned everything he did and brought even more men into the prison.”

Jeff Bristol, Fleming’s attorney, expressed optimism about the potential for change, saying that the best resolution would be for a new Trump administration to repeal the current policy and implement protections for female inmates.

Efforts to bring attention to the issue have also involved former prisoners, such as Jeanette Driever, who recently met with representatives of the Trump team to discuss the policy. Driever expressed hope that awareness of the dangers facing women in prisons would lead to changes in federal law. She noted that someone from Trump’s team had reached out to her, indicating plans to address the situation.

President Trump reiterated his position on transgender policies during his inaugural address on Monday, declaring his intent to restore traditional gender distinctions. “As of today, it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders, male and female,” Trump stated.
