Trump’s Social Media Platform ‘Truth Social’ Launches on Presidents’ Day

President Donald Trump’s social media platform launched on Monday to what appears to be massive success in user response.

WHAT USERS ARE SAYING ABOUT THE APP:
  • Former Acting Director of the United States National Intelligence Richard Grenell called the rollout “very cool,” saying that the app is “limiting the number of signups per day at first” and advised that users “be patient” and “sign up early.” 
  • Journalist Benny Johnson reported that #TruthSocial was trending on Twitter just hours after the launch.
  • Conservative commentator Mark Dice tweeted a photo of one of his posts on the micro-blogging platform, saying that “the media is going to meltdown first thing Monday morning.”
BACKGROUND:
  • According to The Epoch Times, Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG) and Digital World Acquisition Corp., which is a Special Purpose Acquisition Vehicle (SPAC), announced in October they would be creating a new company and launching a social media app.
  • This was in response to Trump and other conservatives, being banned from Twitter and a plethora of other social media platforms.
