Trump Reveals Melania’s Mother is ‘Very Ill’ Amid Absence

Former President Donald Trump announced that Melania’s mother is “very ill.”

The announcement comes as the former first lady has not been frequently seen at events.

Explaining his wife’s absence, Trump said that she is at a “hospital with her mother” who is “very ill.”

“It’s a tough one, a very tough one,” Trump added, noting that his wife “knows about 95 percent of the people in this room” and “sends her love.”

Trump continued that “[w]e are going to have a great year” and emphasized that “we’re going to turn [the country] around pretty quickly.”

“We’re going to have a great 2024, we’re going to make America great again.”

Last month, Melania Trump addressed new American citizens at the National Archives’ rotunda, welcoming individuals to the United States.

“It is my privilege to share this great nation, America, with you,” she said.

The former first lady was born in Slovenia and later became an American citizen.

“Becoming an American citizen comes with responsibility. It means actively participating in the democratic process and guarding our freedom. It also means leading by example and contributing to our society,” she said. “It is a life-altering experience that takes time, determination, and sometimes even tremendous strength.”

“You are American. Be a beacon of inspiration for your children and those who follow in your footsteps. May your journey continue to be filled with endless possibilities, and may your contributions enrich the fabrics of this great nation.”
