Trump Warns ‘Immigration Is Killing Europe’ as He Lands in Scotland

U.S. President Donald Trump landed at Glasgow Prestwick Airport on Friday evening to begin a four-day visit to Scotland. Speaking to reporters before heading to his Turnberry golf resort, Trump warned that Europe is destroying itself through mass immigration and wind energy policies.

Trump criticized Europe’s open borders, stating, “You better get your act together or you’re not going to have Europe anymore. You’ve got to stop this horrible invasion that’s happening to Europe.” He claimed recent U.S. border policy success, adding, “Last month we had nobody entering our country, nobody.”

The president also condemned wind turbines for marring the landscape, calling them destructive to the beauty of Scotland and harmful to wildlife.

Trump is scheduled to meet with European leaders during his stay. He praised British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer for securing a trade deal with the United States, saying their meeting would be more of a celebration than a negotiation. Trump also plans to meet European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, stating a U.S.-EU trade agreement has a “50/50 chance” of success.

In addition to political meetings, Trump will visit his golf properties in Turnberry and Aberdeen, where a new course is set to open. His visit has been met with protests, including demonstrations in Edinburgh and Aberdeen. A group of activists wrote “Free Palestine” on a beach near Turnberry, aiming to display the message as Trump’s plane flew overhead.

Trump’s previous visits to Scotland have also drawn large-scale protests. The country, which leans heavily left politically, continues to oppose many of his policies.
