Trump Gag Order Reinstated

A New York appellate court reinstated a gag order on Donald Trump.

“Upon reading and filing the papers with respect to the motion, and due deliberations having been had thereon. It is ordered that the motion is denied; the interim relief granted by order of a Justice of the Court, dated November 16, 2023, is hereby vacated,” a court document read.

The gag order prevents Trump and his attorneys from speaking out against Allison Greenfield, a clerk for Judge Arthur Engoron.

Earlier this month, Judge David Friedman of the state’s intermediate appeals court issued a stay, or a suspension on the gag order.

Trump lawyer Christopher Kise said at the time that Friedman “made the right decision and allowed President Trump to take full advantage of his constitutional First Amendment rights to talk about bias in his own trial, what he’s seeing and witnessing in his own trial — which, frankly, everyone needs to see.”

Trump was previously fined for violating the gag order.

New York State Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron had Trump answer for a statement he made to the media.

“If we had a jury it would have been fair, at least — even if it was a somewhat negative jury — because no negative jury would vote against me,” Trump stated. “But this judge will. Because this judge is a very partisan judge, with a person who’s very partisan sitting alongside of him, perhaps even much more partisan than he is.”

The judge asked Trump to explain the statement, to which Trump said he was referring to Michael Cohen, his former lawyer.

Engoron declared he did not believe Trump and instead accused him of criticizing the judge’s court clerk, which he previously said was “not appropriate.”
