Trump Finally Posts on His ‘Truth Social’ App

“I’M BACK! #COVFEFE,” wrote Trump.

QUICK FACTS:
  • President Donald J. Trump on Thursday made his first post on his social media platform, Truth Social, after not posting for two months.
  • His very first message on the new platform, posted in February, said, “Get ready! Your favorite President will see you soon!”
  • His new post includes a joke reference to one of his more famous strange word-including Twitter posts, in which he wrote, “Despite the negative press covfefe.” He deleted the tweet but leaned into the apparent typo, just hours later tweeting, “Who can figure out the true meaning of ‘covfefe’ ??? Enjoy!”
  • Trump on Thursday posted on Truth Social, writing in all caps, “I’M BACK! #COVFEFE,” a message that included an image of the 45th President standing in front of his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
  • The post already has nearly 100,000 re-posts and almost 300,000 likes.
TRUTH SOCIAL IS NO. 1 ON APPLE APP STORE:
  • Earlier this week, President Trump celebrated his social media app’s ascension to the no. 1 spot on the Apple App Store’s “Top Free Apps” ranking.
  • “Truth Social is number ONE in the Apple App Store!” Trump said, as his app beat both Twitter and LiveIn—a photo-sharing platform—for the top spot.
BACKGROUND:
  • A special grand jury convened to hear evidence presented by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s team as part of a criminal investigation into President Trump and his business empire is set to expire this week, The Washington Examiner reports.
  • The jury, impaneled last October, is not expected to be extended past this week after Bragg himself expressed doubts about the strength of the evidence, sources told CNN.
