Almost 70 children among just 15 cabinet members. That’s the staggering number Rachel Campos-Duffy cited in a White House Mother’s Day video celebrating the Trump administration’s commitment to American families.
“The families are huge in this cabinet,” said Campos-Duffy, wife of Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy. The couple has nine children of their own. “This is a cabinet and a president who cares about the future, who cares about making sure that the nuclear family becomes the most important unit in our society.”
The Trump administration marked Mother’s Day on Sunday with a video posted to X featuring cabinet members and their families reflecting on motherhood. The tribute included Second Lady Usha Vance, who called being a mother “the greatest privilege” of her life. Vance and Vice President JD Vance have three children and are expecting their fourth in July.
Fara Sonderling, wife of Acting Secretary of Labor Keith Sonderling, went further in her praise of the president’s policies.
“I think President Trump is the greatest president we’ve ever had for moms, not just the Trump Accounts, but the Working Families Tax Cuts,” Sonderling said.
Campos-Duffy predicted the administration’s family-first approach from the start.
“I knew this was going to be the most family-friendly administration in American history,” she said.
First Lady Melania Trump offered her own reflection on the meaning of motherhood in America.
“At the very heart of America’s strength lies the boundless love and quiet power of mothers,” the Office of the First Lady posted on social media, quoting remarks she made at a Wednesday event.
The White House honored mothers “whose unwavering love, sacrifice, & strength help mold the heart & soul of our nation,” thanking “the millions of moms across America” along with the First Lady and Second Lady.
Not every mother spent the day celebrating. The Department of Homeland Security used the occasion to remember Angel moms, women who have lost children to crimes committed by illegal aliens.
“This Mother’s Day, we especially honor Angel Moms,” DHS posted. “Words cannot describe the pain of losing a child. Knowing their child’s deaths were entirely preventable only adds to the pain these brave women face every day.”
President Trump had hosted a Mother’s Day Luncheon on Friday in the White House Rose Garden specifically for Angel moms and Gold Star mothers, those who lost children serving in the armed forces.
“Today we’re honored to be joined by many strong and truly heroic moms who have stood up for their children both in life and in a very profound loss,” the president said at the event.
Secretary of Veterans Affairs Doug Collins also recognized military mothers in his holiday message.
“This Mother’s Day we celebrate all of the mothers who have worn the uniform and those who raised the men and women who defend our country,” Collins said. “You carry the weight of service in a way few can understand, and your service and sacrifice does not go unappreciated. Happy Mother’s Day.”
The administration’s Mother’s Day messaging highlighted a consistent theme throughout Trump’s return to the White House: the centrality of family to American greatness. With cabinet families that look more like small congregations than political households, the message was clear. This administration doesn’t just talk about family values. They live them.
