President-elect Donald Trump announced a slate of key nominations Wednesday for his upcoming administration, selecting experienced leaders to helm pivotal federal agencies. Among the appointees are former Missouri Rep. Billy Long as commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), former Sen. Kelly Loeffler as head of the Small Business Administration (SBA), and Fiserv CEO Frank Bisignano to lead the Social Security Administration (SSA).
Billy Long: IRS Commissioner
Trump praised Billy Long, a former congressman and tax adviser, for his extensive business background and 12 years of Congressional experience. Trump highlighted Long’s track record in real estate and auctioneering, calling him a “people person” respected across party lines. Trump noted Long’s private sector experience in signing paychecks on Truth Social, saying, “Billy brings 32 years of experience running his own businesses in Real Estate and, as one of the premier Auctioneers in the Country. He then served 12 years in Congress, because he ‘felt it was important for his constituents to have a Representative who has signed the front of a check’!”
Kelly Loeffler: SBA Administrator
Kelly Loeffler, a Republican and Trump ally from Georgia, was tapped to lead the SBA. With over 25 years of experience in financial services and technology, Loeffler has been instrumental in building businesses, including scaling a company to Fortune 500 status. Trump touted her dedication to cutting red tape and her commitment to accountability, promising that her leadership would support small businesses.
In his post on Truth Social, Trump added that, “Small Businesses are the backbone of our Great Economy. Kelly will bring her experience in business and Washington to reduce red tape, and unleash opportunity for our Small Businesses to grow, innovate, and thrive. She will focus on ensuring that SBA is accountable to Taxpayers by cracking down on waste, fraud, and regulatory overreach.” Loeffler also co-chaired Trump’s inaugural committee and played a key role in his electoral success in Georgia.
Frank Bisignano: Social Security Administration
Trump announced that Frank Bisignano, CEO of Fiserv, will head the Social Security Administration. Bisignano’s extensive background in financial services includes leadership roles at JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, and First Data. Trump cited Bisignano’s success in transforming major corporations and praised his ability to deliver on SSA’s promise to the American people.
“Frank is a business leader, with a tremendous track record of transforming large corporations. He will be responsible to deliver on the Agency’s commitment to the American People for generations to come!” Trump shared on his social media platform.
These appointments underscore Trump’s preference for leaders with business acumen and private-sector experience, mirroring key themes from his first administration. The roles involve significant responsibility, ranging from modernizing federal agencies to supporting small businesses and safeguarding Social Security for future generations.
