Chinese scientists uploaded a sequence of the COVID-19 virus to a U.S. database on December 19, 2019, two weeks before the virus was shared across the world, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal.
Scientists are limiting their research to fewer countries, committing to neutralizing viruses in the field, and are focusing on domestic animals that have already had human contact.
These newly-released emails dated February 1, 2020, display Dr. Fauci's knowledge of gain-of-function experiments at Wuhan University, an institution implicated as the starting point of the COVID pandemic.
Shan Chao was directed to "find out which one had the best ability to infect as many species as possible," and to "find out how easy it was to infect other species."
Citing "mounting connections between Dr. Hotez, Dr. Fauci, Dr. Jiang, Dr. Du, and Dr. Yusen with Chinese military scientists, the Wuhan Institute of Virology, and the suspicious furin cleavage site."
