Several U.S. states are considering legislation that would ban various snack foods and candy that have been linked to health problems, including cancer.
Democratic California legislator Jesse Gabriel, who introduced a law banning the chemicals found in Skittles candy, is now pushing to ban certain food dyes in schools.
The ban targets common ingredients in candies and processed foods, including red dye No. 3, titanium dioxide, brominated vegetable oil, potassium bromate, and Propylparaben.
Candy company Mars Inc. was sued Thursday for allegedly selling toxic goodies to customers that include titanium dioxide, a colorant, in its ingredients.
