While participating in the "Clay & Buck" podcast, a day after his presidential bid announcement, DeSantis expressed his concerns about the perceived misuse of the FBI and the Department of Justice for politically motivated targeting.

The revelation came to light after American First Legal, a legal watchdog, secured the internal memos from DHS's Office of Terrorism and Violence.

An internal memo, dated January 29, 2021, outlines a program that appears to profile certain political views.

“As we stand firm for life, we must also ensure all Montana kids, from unborn babies to teenagers, have the opportunity to reach their full God-given potential,” Gov. Gianforte stated. “Folks, this must be one of the next chapters of our pro-life, pro-child, pro-family agenda.”
