Migrant apprehensions along the Florida coastline during the first four months of Fiscal Year 23 exceeded the count for the entire Fiscal Year 22. Agents in the Miami Sector apprehended 4,681 migrants since October 1, 2022.
In the 2022 fiscal year, 2,176 Chinese nationals were encountered at the southern border, while in the 2023 fiscal year, in just the first three months, southern border patrol agents reported 1,915 Chinese migrants attempting to enter the country.
Tucson Sector Chief Patrol Agent John Modlin said he has "tremendous concern" that felons and terrorists are among the "gotaways" crossing the southern border.
