Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently sat with Lara Trump on Fox News’ “My View with Lara Trump,” where he detailed the links between Cuba and protests within the United States.
Discussing the protests, Rubio said, “It is funded, it is organized, and Cuba is a part of that network, and in some cases, a critical part of that network, and it’s a network they will weaponize against us.” He explained the network serves to “pressure American policymakers.”
Rubio also explained that Cuba is an “influence and espionage superpower.”
“If you look at the history of espionage in the United States, Cuba is the only country that consistently has implanted and embedded spies in our system without even paying them,” he said.
The interview comes weeks after the State Department released a report on communism’s sweeping effects across Cuba that have infiltrated the United States.
“Since its founding in 1959, the raison d’être of the regime in Havana has been the violent export of communism abroad,” the report states. “But its true target – above any other momentary enemy – has always been the United States.”
The report emphasizes that Cuba has “infiltrated the highest reaches of the U.S. government, recruited and cultivated generations of American activists, backed an unprecedented wave of left-wing terrorism on American soil, and carried out one of the most durable and damaging foreign intelligence penetrations in American history.” The highlight of “left-wing terrorism” aligns with the State Department’s recent condemnation of “far-left anti-government terrorism,” which said “now accounts for more attacks and plots in the United States than any other ideological category.”
