Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Representative Chip Roy (R-TX) released an 18-page report entitled, “WOKE WARFIGHTERS: How Political Ideology is Weakening America’s Military.” The report described the numerous times military leaders have promoted racially-driven ideas and supported LGBT individuals among its ranks, saying, “the appeal to self is corrosive to unit cohesion.” The Republicans then claimed military personnel is weakening due to “a sustained assault fueled by woke virtue signaling” by the Biden Administration. Rubio and Roy also explained the implementation of Critical Race Theory books, such as “How to Be an Antiracist” and its distribution by leaders to their students.
From American Military News:
Rubio and Roy’s report notes how the military has brought on diversity specialists — like Pentagon diversity advisor Bishop Garrison and Department of Defense Education Activity (DODEA) Chief Diversity Equity and Inclusivity Officer Kelisa Wing — who have made both racially and politically charged comments. Garrison has promoted the New York Times’ “1619 Project,” which argues that the true founding of the U.S. was when slavery began on the American continent and not when the American colonies issued the Declaration of Independence. In 2019, Garrison also publicly tweeted that support for former President Donald Trump is support for extremism and racism. ... Military leaders have repeatedly defended against accusations that the services are “woke” and undermined by these diversity efforts, and have even touted such efforts as key to strengthening the military. Last month, the Biden administration released its new national security strategy, which states “we will strengthen the effectiveness of the force by promoting diversity and inclusion.”
