Ron DeSantis Drops Out of 2024 Presidential Race

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL.) suspended his 2024 presidential campaign on Sunday, just two days before the New Hampshire primary election, endorsing former President Donald Trump.

“I am today suspending my campaign,” Mr. DeSantis said in a video. “Trump is superior to the current incumbent, Joe Biden. That is clear. I signed a pledge to support the Republican nominee, and I will honor that pledge. He has my endorsement because we can’t go back to the old Republican guard of yesteryear.”

After announcing his run for president in May, DeSantis raised tens of millions of dollars to campaign.

“I can’t ask our supporters to volunteer their time and donate their resources if we don’t have a clear path to victory,” DeSantis said. “It’s clear to me that a majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance.”

Despite dropping out of the 2024 race, DeSantis previously said he believes he made an impression on voters.

“What we did in Iowa, we did make an impression,” he said after the Iowa caucus. “I had people come up to me saying, ‘I love you, man. I’m gonna do Trump this time and do you next time.'”
