Rapper Lil Nas X Releases Image of Himself on a Cross

Lil Nas X, who claimed he was releasing a “Christian” album, shared a cover image for his new single, “J Christ.”

The image features the rapper being hung on a cross.

“MY NEW SINGLE IS DEDICATED TO THE MAN WHO HAD THE GREATEST COMEBACK OF ALL TIME!” he shared on X.

Another post from the rapper showed him on the cross with silver cowboy boots.

The cross then transforms into a robot-like figure with a golden halo.

Amid widespread backlash of the announcement, Lil Nas X wrote, “[T]he crazy thing is nowhere in the picture is a mockery of jesus. Jesus’s image is used throughout history in people’s art all over the world. I’m not making fun of [expletive]. yall just gotta stop trying to gatekeep a religion that was here before any of us were even born.”

Worship leader Sean Feucht told ChurchLeaders that the art is a “desperate attempt to cause religious outrage by blaspheming the most holy and precious moments to billions of Christians around the world.”

“It’s a sign of the last days,” he explained. “As I believe this is going to happen more, but the thing that I think is wild is it also reveals the hypocrisy and the double standard where people get away with stuff like this and are not canceled.”
