A poll by the Convention of States Action and the Trafalgar Group found that 74.3% of Americans believe a potential Trump indictment would either help Trump’s campaign or have zero effect. Only 25.7% of poll respondents believe an indictment would hurt Trump. Among Republicans, 56.2% believe an indictment would help Trump’s campaign and 32.5% believe Trump’s presidential campaign would not be affected by an indictment. 42.7% of Democrats and 27.5% of Independents believe an indictment would hurt Trump’s presidential campaign.

“It’s obvious to the majority of Americans that former President Trump is being hounded by a politically motivated witch hunt designed to discredit him in order to render him a permanent pariah in American politics,” Mark Meckler, the president of Convention of States, said. “This tactic has never worked, and these early numbers already reveal it’s going to backfire. Voters either think his indictment and arrest will either have absolutely no impact on his 2024 bid, or that it will even boost his campaign.”
