Philadelphia Eagles Accept White House Invitation After Super Bowl LIX Victory

Following their victory in Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Philadelphia Eagles have confirmed they will visit the White House, marking a return to a long-standing tradition.

It has been a customary practice for Super Bowl champions to receive an invitation to the White House to celebrate their victory with the president. However, following their Super Bowl LII win in 2018, the Eagles opted not to visit the White House after a controversial cancellation involving then-President Donald Trump.

During a press conference on February 25, President Trump was asked by a reporter about the Eagles’ visit. He confirmed that the team would be invited to the White House, expressing his admiration for their performance and adding that the invitation would be extended “sometime today”.

On March 10, a spokesperson for the Eagles officially confirmed that the team had accepted the invitation. The team’s decision to participate in this tradition signals a return to a more typical celebration following a Super Bowl victory. The exact date of the White House visit has yet to be announced.

President Trump attended Super Bowl LIX, making history as the first sitting president to do so. During the national anthem, Trump was shown on the stadium’s big screen, receiving loud cheers from the crowd at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Later in the game, Taylor Swift, who attended in support of her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, was also shown on the screen—but her reception was far different. The pop star faced boos from the crowd, prompting her to react with a playful side-eye that quickly went viral on social media.

Swift’s reaction drew attention from fans and celebrities, including tennis legend Serena Williams, who defended her online.

The chilly reception for Swift comes amid rising tensions between the singer and the president. Over the past year, Swift has increasingly aligned herself with Democrats, most notably endorsing Kamala Harris for president. Trump, in turn, has been publicly critical of Swift, even stating that he prefers Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who has expressed support for Trump on social media.
