Pennsylvania Democrats Switching to Republican Party

Data from the Pennsylvania Department of State revealed that in 2023, 35,589 Democrats have switched their party affiliation to Republican, Newsweek reported.

The data also showed that only 15,622 registered Republicans swapped their affiliation to Democrat.

More than 20,000 Democrats and 18,927 Republicans dropped any party affiliation.

“Current voter registration trends and polling in Pennsylvania should be setting off alarms for President Biden and Democrats at the state and national level, with pocketbook issues remaining the top concern of voters who overwhelmingly feel that things are headed in the wrong direction,” said Erik Telford, a senior vice president of public affairs at the Commonwealth Foundation.

A new poll from Gallup revealed that President Joe Biden finished 2023 with a 39% job approval.

The number is the lowest rating of any modern president leading into a reelection year.

According to the poll, 78% of Democrats approve of Biden, down seven points from November.

“Biden enters 2024 with a persistently low job approval rating, the worst of any modern-day president heading into a tough reelection campaign,” Gallup wrote.
