Nikki Haley Signals Withdrawal from GOP Presidential Race Despite Vermont Victory

Nikki Haley appears poised to exit the Republican presidential race, despite her victory over Donald Trump in Vermont’s GOP primary on Super Tuesday. This outcome was an unexpected turn on a dominant night for the frontrunner, who is projected to have secured victories in an additional 14 primaries, including significant states like California and Texas.

Sources informed CNN and The Washington Post that Haley is expected to suspend her campaign on Wednesday.

Addressing supporters from his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida on Tuesday night, Mr. Trump declared victory, stating, “They call it Super Tuesday for a reason. This is a big one. They tell me the pundits and otherwise that there’s never been one like this… has never been anything so conclusive.”

With substantial wins already in hand in Iowa, the US Virgin Islands, North Dakota, New Hampshire, Nevada, South Carolina, Michigan, Idaho, and Missouri, Mr. Trump appears virtually assured of becoming the Republican Party’s presidential nominee.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden emerged as the clear frontrunner in the Democratic race, as anticipated. However, there was an unexpected upset in the US territory of American Samoa, where little-known entrepreneur Jason Palmer defeated Biden.
