Nick Reiner Case Takes Dark Turn With Jailhouse Revelations

The Nick Reiner case has taken a disturbing new turn following revelations from a Fox Nation documentary examining his mental state after the alleged murders of his parents. The report raises serious questions about competency, medication changes, and the severity of the alleged crimes.

A new “TMZ Investigates” special claims Nick Reiner is not mentally competent to stand trial for the killings of Rob and Michele Reiner. TMZ executive producer Harvey Levin told Fox & Friends that Reiner is “almost childlike in jail.” Levin said, “He is not competent to stand trial right now. He is almost childlike in jail, we’re told.” He added that Reiner “can’t process the consequences of what he’s done.”

According to Levin, doctors changed Reiner’s medication roughly one month before the alleged murders after he complained about weight gain. Levin said the adjustment “messed Nick up.” Reiner had been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, a condition that can involve delusions, hallucinations, and mood disturbances.

Levin described the killings as “incredibly brutal,” saying medical examiner staff were deeply affected by the evidence. “We know people in the medical examiner’s office who are traumatized just by the pictures,” he said. Levin further claimed the crime scene showed “all the markings of a meth murder,” alleging Reiner used methamphetamine after his medication change and was arrested in a drug den.

Levin also explained why defense attorney Alan Jackson previously maintained Reiner’s innocence. “[Jackson] says [Nick] is not guilty,” Levin said, clarifying that it reflects a likely insanity defense rather than a denial of the acts themselves.
