Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) claimed on social media that he’s been targeted by the Trump Justice Department.
“Donald Trump isn’t just coming after me because of my mean Tweets. He’s coming after me because I am considering running for President,” he said in a video statement. “Because he hates that I’ve consistently called him out – over and over again – for his lies and deceit. Donald Trump is simply the most corrupt President in American history.”
″One by one, anyone who has challenged Donald Trump has ended up on his hit list,” Newsom added. “And today, I proudly join that list.”
He declared that his wife has also been subject to investigation.
“After calling for my arrest last year, Donald Trump directed his Department of Justice to investigate me,” the governor said. “And just in the last week, I’ve learned his campaign has reached my own home: to get me, he’s coming after my wife, Jen.”
“A public servant. A woman who has dedicated her life to supporting women and girls,” he noted. “Someone who has done nothing wrong, other than having the temerity to advocate for what she believes in. If they can’t intimidate me, they’ll go after the mother of our children.”
Newsom declared that he is “going to fight your lawlessness — and we are going to continue to remind people of this country of your corruption.” He went on to argue that Trump’s “corruption” is the same corruption “our founders warned us against.”
“As we move to celebrate our 250th anniversary, I’m going to keep reminding Americans of what they warned would happen if a man with no character ever held the Office of the President.”
President Trump declared that Newsom blew his presidential chances earlier this year. “Gavin Newscum’s interview weeks ago was, perhaps, the most self destructive interview I’ve ever seen. In one fell swoop, he took himself out of even being considered as the Presidential Nominee of the Crazy (as proven at the State of the Union Address) Democrats,” Trump wrote. “He said, in a speech, he was dumb, had low Boards, can’t read, has dyslexia, and has a mental disorder — A Cognitive Mess! On top of that, Black People are angry because he is obviously a racist.”
“While we all want to be politically correct, having a mental disorder is not a positive campaign event. Also, this was a politically suicidal act,” he continued. “The only thing he didn’t say is he is losing his look, but nobody wants to say that about one’s self. He is no longer a viable Presidential Candidate!”
