Newsom Admits Democrats Are Getting ‘Crushed on Narrative’

Newsom’s warning comes less than a week before the midterm elections.

QUICK FACTS:
  • California Gov. Gavin Newsom says Democrats are being “crushed” on key issues compared to their Republican counterparts.
  • Newsom made his comments on Wednesday less than a week before midterm elections on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
  • “We’re getting crushed on narrative,” said Newsom, who also is running for reelection this year. “We’re going to have to do better in terms of getting on the offense and stop being on the [expletive] defense.”
SOME OF NEWSOM’S RECENT POLITICAL MOVES:
  • Newsom recently made headlines when he signed a bill that would require all police applicants to undergo a psychological evaluation to test “bias” based on “gender” or “sexual orientation.”
  • A companion to that bill is also under consideration that would require police departments to search “applicant social media profiles” for “content indicative of potential biases,” such as affiliation with “hate groups.”
  • Denying transgender ideology is part of disqualifying ideological beliefs that would keep prospective public servants from serving in office.
  • The governor also signed a bill in early October that removes children from parents who oppose transgender treatments for minors.
BACKGROUND:
  • California recently began allowing illegal aliens to obtain California identification due to a new bill, AB 1766, which requires that the DMV issue the cards to illegals.
  • The bill, signed into law in late September, requires that the DMV must “issue a restricted identification card to an eligible applicant who is unable to submit satisfactory proof that their presence in the United States is authorized under federal law if they provide satisfactory proof of identity and California residency, as specified.”
