On Tuesday, Tesla and SpaceX leader Elon Musk announced that he will step down as CEO of Twitter once he finds a suitable successor.
“I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job! After that, I will just run the software & servers teams,” Musk wrote on Twitter, adding that he plans to continue leading the software and servers teams at the social media platform.
This marks the first time that Musk has publicly mentioned his intention to resign as CEO of Twitter.
The news follows a poll launched by Musk on Sunday, in which 57.5% of around 17.5 million people voted for him to resign as CEO.
Musk had previously stated that he would abide by the results of the poll. At this time, no successor has been named and no timeline has been provided for when Musk will step down.
