American Faith previously reported that more than 24,000 Chinese illegal immigrants have been apprehended at the southwest border during fiscal year 2023.
The number is a 1,115% increase from last year when only 1,987 Chinese nationals were apprehended.
In 2021, Border Patrol apprehended a mere 342 Chinese migrants.
The FBI said in a statement that the thousands of Chinese migrants may present a security threat, as those loyal to the CCP are likely exploiting the weakness of America’s borders and compromising national security.
“The counterintelligence and economic espionage efforts emanating from the government of China and the Chinese Communist Party are a grave threat to the economic well-being and democratic values of the United States,” a statement from the FBI’s website reads.
“To be clear, the adversary is not the Chinese people or people of Chinese descent or heritage,” the FBI’s statement on China adds. “The threat comes from the programs and policies pursued by an authoritarian government.”
