  • The UCR report stated that rifles were used in the deaths of 447 people last year, while 461 people were killed with “personal weapons” such as hands, fists, and feet.

  • The UCR for three years ago shows 364 were killed with rifles in 2019 and 600 were beaten to death with hands, fists, and feet.
  • Additionally in 2019, the same report shows that more people were killed with hammers and clubs than with rifles of any kind.
  • More than four times as many people were stabbed to death than were killed by rifles of any kind for the year, including bolt action rifles and lever action rifles, as well as rifles with breech action, pump action, and semiautomatics designed specifically for big game hunting.
