Texas man arrested and charged with human smuggling after being stopped on Interstate Highway 35 in La Salle County, Texas, where 84 illegal aliens were found in his dump truck.

Robert Flores Jr., of Poteet, Texas, was arrested and charged with 84 counts of human smuggling on Oct. 25 after being stopped for a commercial motor vehicle inspection on Interstate Highway 35 in La Salle County, Texas, Christopher Olivarez, spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), said in a statement. “During the stop, numerous individuals absconded from the truck’s cargo area into the brush,” Texas DPS said, adding troopers “discovered 84 illegal immigrants concealed inside the cargo area.” Olivarez said the illegal immigrants in the truck hailed from Mexico and Guatemala and have been turned over to U.S. Border Patrol (USBP). Upon further investigation, authorities found that Flores traveled “through a private ranch road” with the intention of circumventing a USBP checkpoint in Webb County.
