Leavitt Defends Trump Against Profit Allegations Amid Middle East Trip

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed concerns regarding President Donald Trump’s upcoming Middle East trip, firmly denying allegations that the president is leveraging the visit for personal financial gain. During a press briefing on May 9, Leavitt responded to questions about potential meetings with individuals linked to Trump’s business ventures and the promotion of Trump-branded properties in the region.

Leavitt dismissed the premise of the inquiries, stating, “It’s frankly ridiculous that anyone in this room would even suggest that President Trump is doing anything for his own benefit.” She emphasized that Trump had left a successful real estate empire to serve the public and has, in fact, incurred financial losses during his presidency. Leavitt also highlighted a perceived double standard, noting that similar questions were not directed at former President Joe Biden, whom she accused of profiting from public office.

The president’s itinerary includes visits to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar. Leavitt stated that the trip aims to foster “cooperative relationships” and promote “commerce and cultural exchanges,” with plans to meet U.S. troops stationed in Qatar.

In addition to the Middle East trip, Leavitt addressed questions about a dinner event organized by supporters of Trump’s digital token, $TRUMP. The event offers top investors an opportunity to dine with the president. Leavitt asserted that Trump is adhering to all conflict of interest laws and maintains high ethical standards, reiterating that his actions are in the best interest of the American public.
