Argentinian President Javier Milei used his time before the United Nations General Assembly to call the body “useless.”
He called the entity a “useless organization whose only purpose is to sustain a caste of fatally arrogant parasites masquerading as well-intentioned bureaucrats.” He further called out that the body, which advertises itself as “alleged defenders of human rights,” has “sheltered bloodthirsty dictatorships and regimes that stone women in the streets. They have systematically voted against Israel while remaining silent in the face of Islamic terrorism and the genocide of Christians in Africa.”
Milei went on to draw attention to the UN’s “bureaucratic leviathan devoted to deciding how the peoples of the world and their citizens should live,” and specifically detailed events of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“During the pandemic, bodies under the auspices of this house put themselves before scientific evidence and the sovereignty of nations and promoted forced lockdown policies throughout the world that ruined jobs, that ruined the education of entire generations of children, and cost the lives of millions of people who died alone without basic medical care,” he said.
“Where some allege a public health policy error, we see a global experiment in social control disguised as science. And when a state wearing public health blinkers deprives its population of the right to work, to receive an education and to bid farewell to their dead, this results in millions of avoidable deaths; there is a word for it: genocide,” Milei explained.
Milei was elected President of Argentina in November 2023 after campaigning as an anti-socialist libertarian with socially conservative positions. He has stood as a supporter of President Trump, declaring an effort to “Make Argentina Great Again” and launch an immigration crackdown in 2025.
Following in the U.S.’s footsteps, Milei also led Argentina to withdraw from the World Health Organization (WHO).
