Iran has threatened to expand the war’s borders should the United States or Israel strike the country again.
“Our armed forces are very intelligent in creating scenarios. Therefore, they have prepared their own plans for the worst-case scenarios so that if the Americans and the Zionists attack our national centers and interests again in any way, this time the war front will be wide,” Major General Yahya Safavi said, as per Fox News. “Now that it has expanded from the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz to the Red Sea, this front may be expanded in response to the next stage of a possible war (and extend to the Indian Ocean or elsewhere.”
He added that Iran is also keeping an eye on ship movements. “We have very good intelligence and we are completely monitoring the Americans from the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean; we know where their ships, planes and troops are and we are fully prepared,” Safavi, who serves as an advisor to Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khameni, explained. “Of course, Iran is seeking peace and lasting security. Iran is not a warmonger; we are a peace-loving nation; but if they impose a war on us, we will stand up to the aggressors.”
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian accused the United States of attack Iran unprovoked during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly. “We are only defending ourselves, we are not terrorists,” he declared, arguing that Iran has been the “target of cowardly attacks and aggressions imposed upon our country.”
